Saturday, April 5: Keeping It Moving on a Cool Spring Day

View from McDonald's
It's Saturday it's sunny and breezy out here. I got up with a very so back since that mattress was way too soft. Went to the Mickey D's and the coffee foodie at the spot
Leaving
pretty nicely. I didn't truck going up to Pittman New Jersey. I met my friends from the four except for Anthony Frankie. Frankie wasn't able to make it since her sons woman is

having a baby very very soon. Anthony had to work. Nice time I had a tuna grinder which was just okay. I then left Pittman and got the 30th St. to return the car with five

minutes to spare. If I had missed 3:30 PM, drop off time at 30th St. I would've had to drive to call the way to the Philadelphia airport
Outside Vince's Italian Eatery
. And I probably would've gotten home for another hour and a half. It is now 3:31 PM and I am supposed to meet up with someone between 5 and

6 PM tonight. I waited 15 minutes and then caught the 21 bus back to 4405. and clean my apartment.
To clean my apartment and returned a bunch of clothes to dry cleaner

I also brought three of my coats to get cleaned or repaired as well.
Well we walk through what's really from my place on 45th and Sansom past Earth Cup to Baltimore
The Furness Building at Penn
Avenue back to 40th street. Then stopped at allegro pizza for a couple of slices and then walk towards the blue line coffee shop but that was closed. Came home and shelled

out for a minute. Pat gave me a trunk that he had found at homebody's house sale. So we drove to Pat's to pick up the trunk. When I got home, Dean helped me carry it up the stairs. I still need to clean it and put

some contact paper in it. All the help with the storage of clothing. It got pretty cold outside but it was nice to take a tour of West Philly. I don't seem to do that much these days.

April 4th :It's Pay Day!

Catching the Bus
Its Friday. I did not get enough sleep again.... Anyhow I decided to check out the Daily Pennsylvanian for some news. Boy I found a good one! Last November, Penn offered 2 Billion to buy out Drexel. You know they tried to do this before back in 1968. Well, I was ALMOST fooled but I DID read the comments
On the 21
and it was an early April Fools article from the DP. I think I will put this up on Facebook and see if folks get the joke. In other news, there is talk that Gov Corbett may have broken his pledge of no new taxes. He is having a "Read My Lips" moment that may hurt him in the November
8:30 AM
Election. Let's hope so. I do agree that the roads in Pa needed work. They are some of the worst in the USA.
Well I went to the meeting & it was good. I picked up some coffee at Starbucks with my new recycling cup. I went to TD Bank on the way to the trolley. There, I paid off my credit card balance, got a cashiers check for the two Phillies tickets, and deposited
9::00
the rest of Dean's rent. It was good to take care of business early.
I just realized I have a pretty full weekend. Planning a surprise trip to Mary land then I'm supposed to meet my four-way friends at Pitman by one and then I'm seeing another friend who was to meet me at my place between 5 and 6 PM tomorrow.
Going Towards 30th Street
Work got very busy today especially when I was trying to leave by 330 or  4. I didn't leave till at least 4:45 it got so spastic  I then took a nap around 540 and an old friend
Got the Rental
Greg Rimshaw called me and got me out of bed. We had a good conversation and now it's 730 I'm to be pretty late hope you get there by 9:30 PM. I really did
Getting Ready to Leave
need that nap in a big old way. 7:41 PM I am signing off and hitting the road..
The Room!
The drive went very smoothly missed and I missed all of rush-hour traffic. It did not rain hard Tilney the
The Motel
end of the trip. I arrived at the motel around 9:45 PM. OMG this motel was the funniest looking motel room I've ever seen yes it was clean but it was totally secondhand furniture just put in this room with drop ceilings. It was called the Scenic View motel the water has a high amount of nitrates in it so recommends you don't feed kids younger than six months the water since
children don't process nitrates like adults do. We then went across the four-lane highway to this bar restaurant. I had some chicken wings and they were pretty good. As far ahead to pool tables karaoke and had carpeting all over.
The mattress was way too soft. Needless to say my lower back hurts and I didn't really sleep that well. It was an exciting day

La Columbe
Today I got up and after seeing one too many apps, I'm around the cleaning frenzy. I clean the table wash the dishes, and get a little bit of sweeping on the kitchen floor.
At the meeting I was really tired and afterwards didn't socialize and went straight to work. At work it took me till about 11:30
A Purse
AM to finally feel like I was awake. Work was a little bit busy and now I'm going to the L to meet somebody named Tiffany for this neighborhood organization for this website. She's very friendly and personable. She's trying to get more people to sign up
Ludlow Street Towards 58th
for this website called Nextdoor. It's also an app on my phone now .
Well back here in the East Coast, we are finally getting spring. Yes it's raining but I welcome the rain compared to blustery snow flurries in the last week of March.
Market Street 5pm

I started an  ADD medicine  called Strattera. It's nonaddictive version of Adderall. The doc says it's a little take couple months for fully take effect.
I'm still working for the welfare department I hit 25 years this year. Since I'm such a fossil I've reached the end of my step

Community Organizing Tech Style
They're having Millville night at the Citizens Bank Park when the California Angels visit in May.
I saw something on Facebook and I called Marianne Loads. I'm going to buy two tickets. They bought 4000 tickets for the baseball game to watch Mike Trout. I'll be making the check payable to MDC.
The nice thing is I don't have an hour trip home I just hop on the train.I'd like to visit sometime in the next several months. Let me know you time periods where it will be convenient.
I got to take advantage of single-hood:)
Antonin Scalia Quoted on the Daily Show Tonight
By the way I did email the fellow back and I was able to edit his name out. I wasn't going to get rid of the whole site so anybody wants company and will just do one at a time I suppose.
but not before I comment about the US Supreme Court Decision in McCutcheon v. FEC. What a terrible decision! It just allows the most weathy to exert even MORE influence. Here is how one reporter from the Washington Post describes it.
Wealthy donors who can afford to make many donations will have greater influence when it comes to donating to candidates directly. Under the current aggregate limit of $48,600, an individual can max out at 18 federal candidates per cycle. Think of how much more they could give in total if they maxed out at 50 candidates — or even more
Jon Stewart was none too pleased about this decision either. He went about quoting Antonin Scalia talking about the almighty dollar in politics.ell I'm going to bed to watch another Law and Order we run or watch part of the Ken Burns Civil War series and go to bed. Good night. Its good to have Spring again. We must NEVER FORGET how freeking cold it was from November through March

April 2: A Day 4 the Dentest

Editors note, I had to do this post over again. I copied and pasted from the email version that featured on my corrections.
A Cool Cloudy Morning
Yes,April is upon us. I got up and edited my blog postings like do most mornings, and then went back to sleep. Not before I found a National Geographic
Working It
special on the drug trade in Philadelphia. It was pretty depressing.
I can't wait to get paid and it's hump day. I have a dentist appointment at 4 o'clock for procedure I was supposed
Center City in the Spring
to get done 9 months ago. It was not too bad, I was just tired. The sun came out around lunchtime after a cool gloomy morning. My supervisor came back from the Bahamas. The trip was a birthday present for her 16-year-old daughter.
Medical Arts Building
Well Pat and I split a pizza I proceed to crash till about quarter of nine 8:45 PM. Talked to Larry and  want to go home. I had a good nap but that's for sure. Next I went my place.

April Fools Day: The 2nd Quarter Starts

Here is the latest. There is a story that I  heard about through a reliable source while at work. It's one of the headline news story in the daily news. Its exactly the same story I heard last week. A man died after being prison for 3 days.
I just read that
Stairs
Obamacare signups may hit 7 million. There were so many last minute sign ups the website was overwhelmed. Oh I am sure the naysayers will be out in force.
Check this out I was at La Columbe leaving and out of nowhere a woman  said: "how did you get the stain on your coat? I looked down
The EL
and she says "APRIL FOOLS!" It was pretty funny. I decided to try it out myself. I came up with someone and I said there's a bug on your shoulder." It worked really well it was we both had a good laugh.
At Work
Work, fairly busy today. I did a bunch of carfares early. After work and went to the doctors office and waited for an hour & got seen. On the way to pats I stopped by the Toviah Thrift Store.
Walnut Street at 15th
 Read more about it here.
My friend is coming back from Savannah later tonight the week is trolling towards hump day and I will get paid on Friday.

April 1st: Goodbye Toviah Thrift Store

Today I witnessed the passing of an era On the way to pats I stopped by the Toviah Thrift Store. It was a part of Covenant Community Churc It's next to the Indian store at 42nd and Chestnut called Rice and Spice International Grocery. This little mom-and-pop church bookstore  had been around for a long time. Pat recalled seeing it when he was attending Penn back in the mid 80s. It was actually established in 1978. I l learned that Rev Falcon's ministry was for children. Here is a write up about it.
Toviah is an interesting non-profit. It is ran by Reverend Larry Falcon and serves as safe haven for kids in the community while also helping offset some of the financial needs that come along with running a small ministry, Covenant Community Church (which is also located in the shop). The ministry is solely dedicated to children. Another fascinating aspect of Toviah is the elementary school that was birthed out the back of the store.
The Jubilee School provides children from the West and Southwest Philadelphia community the opportunity to receive a private school education without the hefty price tag that come attached to most private schools.
It was now closed. I found out that the Rev. Larry Falcon  had retired and sold the property to the folks who own the Dana Mandi Indian store next to the Kabobeesh, Yesterday April 1st,
clearing things out of the old thrift shop and walked in. I saw a vast open space in the very back there was a ton of old books, CDs, and cassettes. It was quite a sight. The Dana Mandi Indian store is moving into the old bookstore and replacing the Dana Mandy may be a Chinese
store. I was also told that the rent in that Dana Mandi property is $3600/mo. The folks of Dana Mandi bought the bookstore property. For  $3000 a month mortgage. They will now own that her store instead of renting. I will keep y'all posted on these developments as they come. I have a fond memory of shopping Dana Mandi last September. Its funny how memories can be made.

March 31: Say, It's the Last Day of March

Chestnut Street Facing 44th
Today is March 31 good day to clap your hands. It's cloudy but at least it's not raining this time. I realized I left my three remaining tokens at my place. I set the snooze
Church of the Holy Trinity
button on my phone and I was 20 minutes late to the meeting. I did find someone to do the same commitment at the facility for tonight
Walking Towards Work
. It's quite a relief.
Work was superduper busy this morning. It's the end of the month, and it's a Monday. Carfare phone calls away !!
I lent out my trance
past four today to fellow who needed it. I left my tokens at home so I was fumbling for change this
A Vice Grip
morning. Yeah I'll need to go home and get my tokens so. I will also be getting packages in the mail from Amazon starting tomorrow. One is a steamer trunk decidedly interesting having it delivered to my door.
It is 3 o'clock
The Symbol of Waiting and Waiting

o get some of the stupid car fair   Inotices that I have to write out by hand sent out. well computer and really slowed me down issuing benefits today. I would get this funky computer error all the time. http://bit.ly/1gVc0gN
Well I got out of work a little bit late. I'm going to Saxbys to meet up with Mike  to go  to the house.
57th and Chestnut
Digg this, the Phillies won the first game this season 14 to 10 over the Texas Rangers.  Cliff Lee got roughed up gave up the runs but Philly still persevered.

Jimmy Rollins hit a grand slam. This is going to be a wild and woolly. Like I said before,    things have to work out about perfect for the Philly to make the playoffs this year.
20th and Walnut
When Mike and I did our commitment it was pretty good. We then took bus back to Center City and then took the 21. Stopped over patched pick up my cord and socket that

my film making. Well I picked up some Indian food and it's drink and I'm heading home to hang out with Dean and watch some lawn order and going to bed. Hopefully at a decent

hour. Maybe I'll put more links on two so I can put more pictures. I think I did some pretty artsy moody pictures this is even while not feeling particularly moody or that artsy which I think is pretty cool okay. The photo on the left came out very funky. It was compared to a Fritz Lang scene in Metropolis. I was honored by the comparison. Well, Jon Stewart busted on Chris Christie for his hand-picked commission clearing him in the Bridgegate Scandal.
The Governor blamed most of the problem on his former top aide Bridget Kelley. I cracked up at Stephen Colbert's dream sequence which featured BD Wong from Law and Order SVU. I just laughed out loud. Dean and give a high-five when he first appears in each episode. Its all good clean fun.
