Saturday In Philadelphia

This past Saturday, we got outta town and drove to Philly after Carolyne's yoga class at Ostara Yoga. We went to an Indian Festival
on the Ben Franklin Parkway in downtown. It was a vegan fest where they gave out free food and we hung out to see the sights and sounds. There were many young folks out and the dogs had a
nice time as well. We went to a coffee
shop on Baltimore Ave. Its at the Firehouse at 50th and Baltimore Aves. We had some coffee and enjoyed the funky ambiance for sure. After that, we went to see Carolyne''s sister at her apartment in West Philly and got ready to see The Great Unknown at Studio 34 located near the corner of 45th and Baltimore in good ole West Philly. Its above the Fiesta Pizza. Well, when you get in there, you will find a large space used for teaching yoga classes.  The Great Unknown had  played last July at the Fithian House Gallery and were
at the Millville Arts and Antiques show several weeks ago. We got to watch this show sitting on a confortable Couch while other young folks were on the floor relaxing on pillows. It was pretty mellow and quite fun.

Goodbye Pittman Hotel

After 100 years the Pittman Hotel was demolished yesterday September 24th. It was opened as a tourist spot but fell in disrepair and neglect. As The Gloucester County Times reported back in December 2009
PITMAN The Hotel Pitman has closed its doors due to foreclosure and will go to sheriff's sale on Dec. 9.

"This is not something the town did," said Councilman Jeff Sanders. "The property has been owned by the same person for about 40 years and this was between him and the bank. This was entirely the bank's decision and the owner's decision to respond in this way."

Councilman Russ Johnson said the hotel located on Pitman Avenue had been up for sale for about 18 months and had been listed on Craigslist. He said the council saw a few presentations from interested buyers but none of them followed through. On Saturday, the place was padlocked and the tenants told to leave.
The 408 bus drove by it and we go to see it stand there. There was always a light on the small top floor and it reminded us on the bus of "mother" from
the move  Psycho. Where will she live now?  I wanted to go there yesterday morning but the weather was so nasty. The future of the lot will be according to a report from the The Gloucester County Times
Council President Russ Johnson said following demolition, the lot will be vacant until someone decides to buy it from Monroe Savings Bank, the property's current owners. Any potential developers must then come before the planning board because the property has been declared a redevelopment zone by the borough.
Council approved a redevelopment plan in April that would allow construction of either a senior apartment complex or four detached single-family homes.
I will miss looking at that building when I ride the 408 bus. They do not build places like that any longer.

TrackRacket Meeting Sept 23rd 2010

The TrackRacket Attorney's
This blogger attended the TrackRacket meeting with the 2 attorneys representing TrackRacket. It was held at the American Legion Hall in Millville NJ. TrackRacket attorney Oliver Griffin Adressed the audience at this meeting. Here in this video he states the goal of this lawsuit against the track. Trackracket has 3 suits against the track. The suit against the track was tossed out before discovery and this seemed to give the city the initiative to sue for the $14,000 it cost to defend it against the Trackracket lawsuit. One last thing. A woman after the meeting had an idea to charge admission to the next of these meetings to help defray the cost of the lawyers. She implied this way only the serious who want to  solve the problem will show. Ummm I do not thing 100 people will show up.
The tone was civil except when I stated that Millville taxpayers will pay for the $14,000 that the city spent on the lawsuit. One of the attorney's referred to another local group as "wackos". This was in response to my issue with TrackRacket and why I could not join. Very interesting. They dismissed the city's attempt to recoup the 14k it spent to defend itself. He stated that most cities do not do this.
You know my opinion on this if you want the flavor of the meeting, go to http://www.youtube.com/mkrull1
  Enjoy

Sept 23 Thunder

PHILADELPHIA - AUGUST 14: Michael Vick of the...Image by Getty Images via @daylife
Good morning team. First the good stuff. How bout them Phillies eh?? They have won 10 games in a row and now lead the National League East by 6 games. Now we hope that somebody can knock off the Yankees and their $$$. Oh but the "BIG STORY" is the fact that Eagles have now anointed Michael Vick as the starting quarterback. Its VERY rare for Coach Andy Reid to change his mind and the sports reporters are all in a tizzy. Of course they have to ask Donavan McNab on channel 6 last night about the latest quarterback controversy. The former Eagle quarterback said in so many words that this is typical for the Eagles. Man Action News Anchor Jim Gardner came out and said he was tired of hearing this day after day. It was great to see one of them act like a normal person and say what he thinks. I agree, they are really spinning this and fanning this. Kevin Kolb is keeping his cool. I am glad Vick is playing well, I must admit that his history of animal abuse still makes me wonder.
I had 2 Dr apts yesterday. My first one was a routine visit at 7:30 in Bala Cynwyd. Good thing I was able to take the car and drive for that one.. Here I am approaching 52nd and Market Streets in this video below
The 2nd one, I had to get a funky mole removed out of me. This is the 3rd one removed this year. This dermatologist office is the best. I never wait long at all and the Dr. just comes in and carves my growth, puts on the stitches and I am DONE! I was able to leave work at 1:45, find a great parking place at 9th Street a block south of Spruce.
Going to the Dr.
I was done and back at work at 3pm. I was able to finish lots of scanning paperwork that had been lingering on my desk for over a month. That feels good to remove that clutter for sure.
Oh yes, back to the Motorsports Park and the TrackRacket. This is getting old aint it but hey, this issue may determine the viability of Millville and the County. In the latest installment, the City of Millvile is suing for the court costs incurred in the dismissed lawsuit from Trackracket.
Attorney Katherine Morris has filed a motion on behalf of the city to recover legal fees and costs pertaining to a suit filed against it and the New Jersey Motorsports Park by TrackRacket.
The city will apply to the Superior Court of New Jersey Law Division Cumberland County at the Gloucester County Courthouse Oct. 1.
Millville is seeking the recovery of legal fees and costs in the amount of $14,479.52.
Well tonite is the TrackRacket meeting at the American Leagon. Man, I will make every effort to attend. As for the costs of the lawsuit to the city, my sources tell me it over $18,000.00 and counting. Damn there goes my tax $$$. Would Millville First find this to be a wise use of our money?
Yup, last night we had a short but intense Storm.

The End of Cold Turkey:

Strange title. I have 7:30 Dr apt in Bala Cynwd Anyway, TrackRacket founder Michelle Post has written 2 letters to coincide with the meeting that will be held TOMORROW. I have exchanged emails with her and plan to bring the pink camera to just watch this. No difficult questions will be asked as they will be unwelcome. I will gladly answer questions if approached. I will see the 5 folks who read my blog daily at this meeting. I can not wait to see this.
Work is just very busy and its supposed to get very warm for the next 2 days after today. I have no photos to share and the battery on this computer will die soon.

Rally to Restore Sanity: October 30 in DC:Lets GO!!

I will be there. Won't you join me??

Please check out http://www.rallytorestoresanity.com
Here is the quote from the website

"I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!"
Who among us has not wanted to open their window and shout that at the top of their lungs?
Seriously, who?
Because we're looking for those people. We're looking for the people who think shouting is annoying, counterproductive, and terrible for your throat; who feel that the loudest voices shouldn't be the only ones that get heard; and who believe that the only time it's appropriate to draw a Hitler mustache on someone is when that person is actually Hitler. Or Charlie Chaplin in certain roles.

Are you one of those people? Excellent. Then we'd like you to join us in Washington, DC on October 30 -- a date of no significance whatsoever -- at the Daily Show's "Rally to Restore Sanity." Ours is a rally for the people who've been too busy to go to rallies, who actually have lives and families and jobs (or are looking for jobs) -- not so much the Silent Majority as the Busy Majority. If we had to sum up the political view of our participants in a single sentence... we couldn't. That's sort of the point.

Think of our event as Woodstock, but with the nudity and drugs replaced by respectful disagreement; the Million Man March, only a lot smaller, and a bit less of a sausage fest; or the Gathering of the Juggalos, but instead of throwing our feces at Tila Tequila, we'll be actively *not* throwing our feces at Tila Tequila. Join us in the shadow of the Washington Monument. And bring your indoor voice. Or don't. If you'd rather stay home, go to work, or drive your kids to soccer practice... Actually, please come anyway. Ask the sitter if she can stay a few extra hours, just this once. We'll make it worth your while.

Watch Jon's call-to-reasonableness on The Daily Show.

Keep checking back for updates and rally information.

Bogart's, Baseball and TrackRacket Commentary: What a Mix!!!!

Atlanta BravesImage via Wikipedia
Sunday Septermber 19th 2010 was  a very ok day in sunny Millville where some want to build up and others want to tear down. After getting the printing to work, I went to the Refrigerator Door Gallery on High Street, but alas it was closed. I then walked to
This past Afternoon at Bogarts Books
Bogarts Books where Poetry on High was happening. There was a nice crowd there and it was enjoyable. I then checked out the Phillies and Eagles games at Bojo's while having a beer. The Eagles were leading but the Phillies were losing to the Washington Nationals.
Singin the blues at Bogarts
Taken today
Turns out the Eagles barely beat the Detroit Lions 35-32 and the Phillies won 7-6 with 4 runs in the 9th inning. They face the Atlanta Braves for a big series. to decide who will be National League East champs. The discount store is closing this week and moving to philly. It had an ugly sign but it was sure convenient. There was no troublemakers hanging out and it brought folks who would otherwise not step foot in the Arts District. Speaking of which there is a again some grumbling about the MDC but there will be no changes at the top since there is enough support to keep the MDC leadership intact.
This Thursday is Artists Nite and also a public meeting held by Motorsports protest group TrackRacket. As reported in the News of Cumberland County representatives from the City Commission and the Motorsports Park will NOT attend due to the pending litigation:
TrackRacket's complaint against the city concerning enforcement of the city's noise ordinance against the New Jersey Motorsports Park was dismissed late last month. There remains the possibility that the special interest group will move ahead with an appeal to that decision.
The same complaint against the track has yet to be dismissed.
"We have received no formal invitation, and I would think that their attorneys would advise them not to invite us because of the litigation," Fauerbach said. "You do not conduct litigation away from the courtroom."
Post e-mailed invitations to each of the five city commissioners.
"It's a shame the commissioners will not be there," TrackRacket founder Michele Post said. "They could come and listen. Nothing's stopping them from coming and hearing it."
The meeting is an open public forum, and all are welcome to attend, Post said
Well, I did note that all are welcome to "attend" but not speak like at a previous public meeting. where folks from the racetrack tried to speak. This is when I started to really question the motivation. Since then, the listing has ONLY been done by newspaper reporters, bloggers and the Millville City Commission.
Well, I have to catch the 4:13am bus to hit my Dr apt at 7:30. I will appear on Thursday and not much earlier. Enjoy the articles below!

Anyone that knows me, KNOWS I am working!!

Well, the last few days on the mundane side of life have been interesting. At work as you see above, there was some "police activty. Notice the Philly policeman
at the early part of the video pulling out his 9mm Glock. Now, I did not hear any reports
EEEEK! The Mid-Terms!!!
of gunshots but it looked pretty scary to me anyway. On the way to work I sometime see the Wine and Spirits store (e.g the state store) filling up their inventory of booze for folks to imbibe to.
Fill her up!

impressed with Windows 7. At work I generally have to keep 9 or so windows open. With previous versions of Windows, I could see the name of the file below, not with Windows 7. I think Microsoft was trying to mimic the Apple operating system.I am a govt employee, not a creative artist. I just want the system to be easy and user friendly, yet can help with tasks that working folks need.   Well, I got a ride home from a supervisor and she listens to a funky little station on the very right of the FM dial and I got to hear this classic song from 1984. Its called White Lines. The video merged the hood with one funky tune.
I am just working in the hood, doing just what I should. I am doing it right doing it all though the night. Well, got to hit the sleep now.

Thurs Sept 16: Mid-Term Times of a Civil Servant

Its been a pretty scary lead up to this November's Midterms. I must say there are some folks who have a good
On the 408 yesterday after reading the news
chance of being real live US Congressmen and US Senators. I have already spoke about that US Senate candidate Joe Miller who wants to end Social Security and UC Benefits. So its good to see a Democrat take charge and call out the folks who would protect Wall Street and the folks making OVER 250,000. Oh yea remove health care and shut down the goverment to achieve THAT goal.
Here is a REAL Democrat who is not a wimp. Meet Alan Grayson Congressman from Florida. Lets get real and lets fight for our beliefs.

Street Fighting Man Trailer from Martini Lunch Productions on Vimeo.
We got some far-right folks that are go far over that some Republicans are not pleased. We got the newest far-right tea bagger Christine O'Donnell who is now the US Senate Candidate for the state of Delaware. Even Karl Rove questioned her qualifications. He later of course did back down under the FOX and Tea Park blitzkrieg and now is calling O'Donnell a good candidate
Meanwhile Jon Stewart comments on the Mid-Terms in his own way. He calls MSNBC lightweights in slanted news compared to the mighty FOX Republican network.
In other political news, there is a growing push to cut public sector benefits and pensions all across the good ole USA. New Jersey seems to be leading the way with a 50% in increase in retirements. I have heard that many state employees will leave in Jan 2010 after our LAST contracted pay increase kicks in in the month of November. The chronic under-staffing and the increased work is leading to stress and impaired customer service. I know it has affected my interactions with my clients at times and that aint cool. On this wet night and early am, it seems that the way its gonna be.
