Isabelle Samul-Reichey knew her husband for 30 years, but it was the effort of dozens of people she barely knew that made her wedding so special
Samul-Reichey, owner of Isabelle's Studio in Millville, and her husband Jay Reichey were married in the sunroom on the third floor of South Jersey Healthcare Regional Medical Center on Thursday.
The couple had been together for 30 years and, after Reichey was admitted to the hospital last month, the two decided it was time to get married. When the couple told the staff of their plans, the hospital's employees completely overwhelmed her, Samul-Reichey said.
"The whole building of people, it's remarkable how well they work together," she said.
Nurse Manager Patty Sanchez became the wedding planner, working out the details along with Erica Newhard, a patient representative, and other staff members on the facility's Medical Acute floor. Sanchez met with Samul-Reichey at her studio to handle all the arrangements, including her favorite colors and music. Sanchez said all of the 67 medical staff and employees in the wing, and others in the hospital, contributed either by attending the ceremony or bringing food or decorations. Some employees even came in on their day off, she said.
