Friday, October 10: Philly Photo Day 2014

Early AM Outside Front Door
Good morning. Yes it is the day I've waited for since I found out last year but I missed
7am From the Back Porch
the contest. I wish it were Saturday or Sunday because I would have more of my diverse set of
Looking Down Market Street
pictures to choose from but no matter it's all good. I'll have pictures of unusual stuff that's not usually photograph like West Philly
The Trolley Approaching 19th Street
West of 46th street. Well I got to work on time and looking too bad really.

The orientation Transpass giveaway was not as chaotic and bogus as it could have been. It was insanely busy till about an hour ago and then I had to take a long lunch to chill. It is now raining or least starting to rain and

and I did not bring an umbrella.😡 Well I have decided that I got a lot done considering how busy it was. My alerts are down to the normal amount and I'm making a little headway on the non compliant list. I've been going to ride with my supervisor to my old place at 4405. I then decided I just didn't want to wait for SEPTA and  caught in the rain  so I took a cab. As I was driving down Pine Street I saw Lou Magazzu  walking on 17th

Milk and Honey
on 17th St. I had to let Carl and Linda know. I was pretty shocking was like a flashback life. It is now 6:04 PM and it's sprinkling right now outside. I'm at the milk and honey at 6:17 PM I have two bananas yogurt and an ice coffee to last me 45 minutes or thereabouts to the meeting rain is still very sprinkling. I am now enjoying the mood music emanating from the speakers at the Milk and Honey Cafe.
My View at the  Milk and Honey
Most of the crowd is disbursed and it is now just getting dark outside as I sit. I can hear to do to the left of the window I'm looking at discussing the program and stuff interesting to
hear in the background I am going to go wrap to show up at and then walk on over to 4th and Pine. Well a person I
My Trip Home
knew who used to being my sponsor spoke at the meeting. He was really good and I was pretty tired.

But I was just mellow as well. Larry was there and we had a nice time. After the meeting we walked

A Long goodbye to Lou Magazzu

Zap! He is Gone!!
Well  finally Lou Magazzu has resigned from  the  Cumberland County Freeholders mainly because the media finally reported on his naked pictures of himself sent to a unnamed mistress  somewhere.  It has been  three (3)  years  since in August 2008
when I was first exposed to his ways. of dealing with people. Since that day, I have seen him play dirty with political foes and private citizens.I am one of MANY Cumberland County Democrats that supported Magazzu Watch over the past 3 years. The media does NOT bother to mention this. He was an embarrassment to many Democrats. Lou abused MANY folks in his own party. I mean the Newark Star Ledger printed an editorial that SUPPORTED Lou! Ummm. I wonder why? To me it's pure partisan bias at work. No media outlet seems to care to find out the threats and abuse he meted out.
Good News Travals Fast!
He was THE political force of Cumberland County NJ for years. Yet after he leaves, the Democrats have a slim 4-3 majority on the Freeholder Board. This blog  has followed with interest.the goings on of Big Lou and his minions as they trampled those who DARE to question him. One such issue in Cumberland County is Teen Pregnancy. Our county has the highest rate in all of New Jersey. When a citizen wrote a critical letter in the local newspaper about Lou and the County Freeholders were handling this issue, this person was visited by County Tax Assorors at her house.
Thank you Carl and MagazzuWatch. You proved that justice can prevail with a lot of patience and persistence.
Good bye Lou and enjoy Chicago!!
This is the last of my comments on Mr Magazzu

June 2011: The Second Half

It is now Saturday June 25 and still
Tues June 21st March for a Fair Budget and Contract
no computer. Oh well, must press on.
It has been an eventful 2 weeks. First
off, Densie will be due to have her baby
next Weds. It is going to be a boy but I
Know not what they will name the child..
In other news, one of nieces wedding planned
for Sept was canceled...
As for work, 2 folks retired from our CDU Unit so
we are shorthand. Our union negotiate a 4 year
contract w/ Gov Corbett. Late Thursday a tentative
agreement was reached. I was amazed that the only
Giveback was losing 2 sick days. The employee
contribution will not increase till
The 4 year of the contract.
Last weekend we had my mother come up for the weekend and get a nice time also today and I will move for my sister-in-law back to south Philadelphia
Moving Day 6-27
Out on the Magizzu front, apparently there is supposed to be some interesting stuff coming out but that's up to the Magizzu watch. around the last week of work before I take off for the July 4 week. I think we did okay our state contract considering what's going on around the country with public employees taking the hit for budget deficits. Can't wait to be able to post on a real computer, blogger does not have a real App. I can not believe that.
Special Effect on Me
Today, Sunday I am at the Crowe's to do some household help. We then have to clear out the Energy Center in Bridgeton since the owners are selling due to the grave illness of one of the owners. We hope Ostara Yoga will find a suitable place soon. There are 2 strong possibilities pending and we will find out this week.
Last weekend we invited my Mother over.

A Low Blow!!

Today as I was taking out the garbage, I saw the ad that brings up the Republican leader's domistic issues. I will quote " Why are the Cumberland County Republican Freeholder candates okay with the violent criminal history of their Party Boss?"
Well, this bringing up someone's personal problems for the public to see and Mr. Greco is not running for ANYTHING!!
My question is WHY are Mr. Peppitone and Thompson being wimps by not saying that this has gone too far and show SOME leadership. This Democrat is just DISGUSTED!!

Columbus Day 2010: Comments from the Peanut Gallery

Today was quite warm for sure. I had stayed up late last night so I slept in till almost 11. Oh my..Read the Sunday paper and did a few things around the house. Saw folks and talked  about the state of the Arts District during  a recession and the future opening of the Levoy next May or June. The director of the  RRCA may resign soon, there seems to be a search for a replacement when her contract ends. Of course the MDC and the politics of that came up.   After that we walked our pups and went
to Bogarts books to chill.  I got a lucky break when the dentist office called and told me they had an opening at 3pm. I went and it was ok but the best part is that I do not have to arrive at work 3 hours late to work on Wednesday. I do plan to take off the week of  Veterans Day to do stuff and take a break. This weekend weather was just about perfect for any activity. Dog Walking, political gossip, having a beer, watching the Phillies and Eagles and watching Masterpiece Theatre.
Blogging at the Collingswood Library
I am now in Collingswood NJ. I am killing time at the Collingwood Public Library. A friend of mine who I was talking to suggested I hit the
library and go on the computer. I just happened to be parked right near it and as a "visitor" I have 1 hour to stay on this computer. I am now down to 25 minutes and it is now 6:14pm. Collingswood sure looks nice on an Indian Summer Day, that's for sure.
I am browsing the Millville News and see on Friday Oct 8 Michelle Post sent in a Jeer to the City of Millville for attempting a SLAPP suit and a cheer to the judge who dismissed it.  Not being privy to the the decision to dismiss the Trackracket suit against the city, I can not say for sure she is correct in her assessment. Her accusation is serious since it implies that the City of Millville purposely was stifling dissent. That I am not in favor of. I wonder if the judge called it as such? If the judge did not then her charges are political hyperbole. If the judge did thent its the same political hardball that did in Jane Geletto back in 2005 and 2006 when I first moved here.
Oh I must comment on the LATEST political smear job by Big Lou and his minions!! Last  Thursday when Jane Jannerone asked GOP head Bob Greco to resign because of domestic violence charges that recently came to light through anonymous mailing she said it has nothing to do with the upcoming freeholder election. WHAT?? Is she WHACK??? She must think I (we) are numskulls and buffoons like her. Come on! How do you expect anyone to want to be involved in Cumberland County politics when you attack someone on their personal lives. Its even worse since it the Democrats are doing this bogus stunt. We all KNOW its Lou pulling the apron strings with Ms. Jannerone. Come on Ms. Jannerone grow up and stop being a puppet for Mr. Magazzu. I think the public deserves better then this. Jannerone fiddles while the county burns!I have 4 minutes left on this computer. I will will have to continue this when I get home AFTER I eat something. Its now 6:33pm
Its now 11:07 pm and the big story on Action News and Channel 10 news is that 6 boaters were found. Yup when you have this kind of news while the country is mired in high unemployment and ready to elect some right-wing bozos to powerful positions. Its little wonder that many folks listen to talk radio and the FOX news channel. The faux news is not FOX. Its really the local news broadcasts that titillate, tease and talk about nonsense for half of the broadcast and have the weather for the other 11 minutes. Its new capitalism. Give the people what they want

Thoughts of June 3rd..

Good day from Millville NJ at 8am in the morning. Its going to be a hot one today June 4th 2010. Yesterday was a day like some. I worked my butt off at work trying to keep up. After work, I went to a friend's house seeing what was up. Their apt is a bit depressing with the aged off-white walls EVERYWHERE. They want to get out but the rent seems to be cheaper and they have 2 floor to themselves. It could use some cheering up and a few cans of fresh paint I then slogged to the Walt Whitman bridge where lanes were blocked. The traffic was backed up for miles!! It turns out I saw only one car since I suppose, the other car was already removed. Maybe the person hit the guardrail and spun around. Hopefully nobody got hurt. After I got back to Millville, there was a Zoning Board meeting. We had one application which was fairly routine. Went to the Oar House for a bit and saw a few friends who opined about the status of Lou Magazzu and county politics. Apparently there are rumors afoot and power plays going on.
In Millville a whole host of folks are retiring. It has been stated that 10% of the workforce will retire in July. Its a good opportunity to save money for the long term! Lou Thompson is one of the many and it appears that his assistant City Manager Susan G. Robostello, will take over. I was told that Millville is one of the few (if not the only) cities of its size to have a position as Assistant City Manager. Well, its obvious that Millville can not afford THAT position. If Mr. Thompson was making about $130,000 per year, then the assistant could have been making at LEAST 50-75 THOUSAND per year plus benefits.
I am off to get ANOTHER tooth extracted at 8:30am this am since another root canal has gone bad. Then go to work the best I can.
Carl and Liz are showing on First Friday in Bridgeton. They are showing at Gallery 50 Bye

Its Friday Dec 4th

Good morning. Its FRIDAY and man this week has ended. Ethian Arnoff has left the County. Lets see who Big Lou Picks... Its almost 5:30 am and Steve and Carolyne and I are now up sipping yummy coffee.I need to get ready for the 5:47 Rt 408 Express to Philly. Yesterday, I figured how to get to the 555 building via SEPTA and it went pretty well. The RT 44 Bus had very large clean windows and I was able to get decent photos of 30th Street Station.
I got a shot of an eagle that is very cool We are now faced with putting our dog Wolfe to sleep. He bit someone again. He appears to having pain in his back and legs and we think that is why he tends to bite. We need to protect ourselfs from lawyers and take the dog out of his misery and pain.
Well its time to take NJ Transit and SEPTA..

December 1st Politics in Millville

Anyone who reads this blog or MagazzuWatch know what transpired last night at the City Commission Meeting. Jim Swift was voted out as public defender. Brock Russell the current prosecutor was installed as public defender. Lauren VanEmbden was voted in as the new prosecutor. See video:
What should have been a routine matter has become embroiled in messy partisan politics, rumors and resentment to flood out the city.
I have listend to the parties involved. I first found out this was going to happen on 3rd Friday last month. I followed up by asking questions and received strident and defensive answers. I have heard folks say that they would move out if they did not get their way on this matter. This to me was the most disturbing aspect of this political situation. It appears that scorched earth politics has reached the city limits of Millville. Not even Millville First has generated such division amongst folks who are active with making Millville a better place.
Will we see mass resignations by city activists? Will the criminals run amok with a new prosecutor?? Is Lou Magazzu involved with this decision??
This last question has cause the most anger and defensiveness to everyone I have spoken with on this matter. Some are CONVINCED that he promised jobs to 2 Commission members to make this happen. This is STRONGLY denied by others. I have considered asking directly to certain individuals this question but by the way I have been answered with a defensive tone. I will let that question go. Its the pink elephant in the room that no newspaper will ask and no one will tell.
This whole episode has left me dizzy, confused and disappointed. Now, that is not a big deal since I am not involved directly in this. I am a Center City Resident however, and if neighborhood leaders lose faith in city government, Millville is in big trouble. On the other hand to just give up and let the anger of the moment color the BIG PICTURE (A Better Millville) then there will be " blame" and shame to spread out like fertilizer
Maybe we can all move on to other issues that we can all agree on such as keeping the police dispachers HERE in Millville.
Lets chill and just do it

New Director to be named to the CCIA Today

I read in today's News of Cumberland County that Steve Wymbs might be removed as the head of the Cumberland County Improvement Authority.
Well, my sources say its a DONE DEAL the CCIA board WILL dump Steve Wymbs and put Doug Rainear's brother Don Rainear as Executive Director. Some prominent politicians went to CCIA Trustee Sumner Lippincott and told him to be party loyal and let Steve go. Al Kelly has assured Lou that Sumner will fall in line this evening. the CCIA will change, and not for the better. What does Don Rainear know about managing a landfill or recycling?
Well, it appears that Lou will use his new and improved political muscle to control the CCIA and all that taxpayer money. Of course the local papers will just jot down the info...

Election 2009: Trick or Treat??

I did some errends yesterday and saw these kids dress up so funny and its not even Holloween. The Rite Aid can be a strange place weither its West Philly or Millville.
Anyhow I got a disturbing email this morning concerning a radio program with I believe 2 candidates running in this November's election. on 92.1 WVLT. They went on and on about how Man I wish I had heard THAT!! I really wish I did!!!
On Magazzuwatch a Mr. Calhoun made this statement that implied that Ms. VanEmbden said the following:
She was proud of being on Lou’s ticket and how those who were complaining (about Lou) were like little yippy dogs and were part of a very vocal minority.
I just got clairifcation on what Ms. Van Embden was referring to when she made this statement. She was referring to opponents of the racetrack and the Millville Arts District. Those opponents would be TrackRacket and Millville First, not those who disagree with Lou Magazzu. She being the only Millville Resident on the ticket was proud to live in Millville. I want to apoligize to Ms. VanEbden.Man the state of Cumberland County politics today.....

Changes

Been awhile since I wrote. I have not been in the mood much in the past 2 weeks. This weekend hung out with Carolyne and Steve and volunteered painting the soon to be opened Levoy Theatre business office

The Fithian Gallery will not be in operation for a while. We aren't giving up or closing forever; we just need some time to get it together and reemerge stronger than ever. This has been a tough decision and we are just emerging from a tough time. When our dear friend and artist, Jimmy Miller, died, it was the last straw. We see no other choice at the time. We are offering studio space for artists so email me at mkrullrt55@gmail.com or call.
The photo is at the Goodwill Store in Millville. Its funny but sums up the times we are living in now. Things are pretty tight nowadays
On the politics front, I have been out of the loop but I have heard these nibbles over the past week or so.
First off there are going to be 4 announcements concerning Millville over the next week to 10 days. I know one will announce the date of demolition of the Millville Gardens but from the hints I got they are all going to be good news for the Millville economy and we all want Millville to succeed...right?? I do know that the city is working on changes to the sign ordinances. This is way overdue and I think most would agree with me on this one.
Word is out according to Lou Magazzu's own polling, he will win followed by Nelson Thompson. This same poll has Lauren Van Embden behind incumbent Gloria Noto. I heard that at an event Lou had his ..... Man can't even print that one out cause its so shameless. Geez this man has to be voted out..Please!!!
I plan to be in Philly to work on business since I do not have to work. The video below yours truly who left their wallet on the bus and called NJ Transit right away. The driver found and and gave to the lost and found located in Washington Twp NJ. I think the bus is OK. I do have one lady who has a problem with me since I talk with a recovering heroin addict too loud and fails to get off at the lovely "Bridge Plaza" in Camden. Maybe I will feature this place on this space soon.

City Comission Meeting Sept 1st 2009

I went to the City Commission meeting on this fine September 1st. It was packed to the max with folks concerned with the Route 55/49 project. State officials from the Department of Transportation came out and stated that the project will be scaled back and the The 220-year-old oak tree near the corner of Wade Boulevard and Route 49 will not be affected. Rt 49 will not be widened. The heavy hitters of the local political scene were out. Lou Magazzu, Jeff Van Drew, Matt Millim and Nelson Albano. I did get a chance to let Sen Van Drew know how important the Levoy is to the future of the Arts District in Millville. He reacted positively to this. We shall see very soon if the Senator puts his back-slapping to good use. At the meeting the Commission approved the city buying a property at the corner of Buck and Pine Streets. I walk my dogs by there everyday and I for one am glad the city will buy it. I really like the suggestion that Mayor Shannon made to tear it down. Commissioner Vanaman wants the city to consider being a landlord. This is a silly idea. If anyone looks at the property, they will see it needs work. The city will need the land to further the develop the riverfront area. This property is next to the library and make the area whole for future development. This is smart of the city.
I then had to leave the meeting at 7:45pm. I missed Commissioner Vanaman vote NO for an extra $325, 000 of UEZ funds to assist in the Levoy. He did express support for Pete Peirce's dream and the project. I guess he felt the need to save money or to show his bonafides to the Millville First contingent in the audience. I do not know.. After the meeting a friend asked Lou Magazzu a few questions. No video but great reporting.

Cumberland County Needs Real Public Transit

I read in the News of News of Cumberland County and in Magazzu Watch about the serious lack of public transit in Cumberland County. A woman named MorningCloud Jones gathered a petition to have NJ Transit INCREASE weekday service on the Route 408 bus.
I now do understand this issue more then ever since I have taken the 408 bus several times in the past 2 weeks. Looking at the schedules, I wonder how folks with NO car can get by in Cumberland County. As Ms. Jones states in the News of Cumberland County Article:

"It's very tough, she said, to find a job when one must rely on a bus schedule to get there, even for an interview. In fact, it can become a vicious circle. Imagine: you don't have any or enough income to buy a car; so you can't land a job requiring efficient, reliable transportation; so you can't get the money to get that car, to achieve that reliability, that can get you the job."

I wish her luck and would like to help her with pushing the state and county to get serious about this. It must be a part of any economic development plan that is developed. Better yet lets continue the pressure to get started now.

Millville Block Party

Yesterday Saturday June 27th, I went to the Millville Block Party to hand out info about the Millville Arts, Antiques and Music Festival. Its to be held Sunday Sept 13th. While I was waiting to hear from Keith where Jim might be. I ran into some friends such as Dottie Carl, Liz, Joe. The real surprise is that I ran into Lou Magazzu. He was very friendly and said that I was of Magazzuwatch.com. I said now my political career is ruined. It was in the sprit of clean Summertime fun on a perfect day. See for yourself today.

Feeholders: Lets Have an Open Space Plan!!

I read in all 3 local papers that the County Freeholders are considering an Open Space study at their July 1st Freeholder meeting
Now didn't the County Taxpayers approve the tax already? Get real!! Do they REALLY need a study. Its just more delay until after the election. The public has consistantly supported open space so why the delays? County taxpayers already pay for an open space tax for farmland preservation. The County's urban areas do not benefit from farmland preservation like the rural municipalities. An open space PLAN is necessary for open space tax money to be spent on non-farmland preservation. An open space plan will set aside money for unprotected open space for recreational use such as public parks. 15 years ago, Cumberland County Residents approved funding for open space.
Why, 15 years later does Lou Magazzu feel the need for a STUDY and not a PLAN for open space? Well, I believe this is because Mr. Magazzu is running for re-election and conducting a study creates the appearence of doing SOMTHING about open space without REALLY geting it done. Just last September, the Feeholders stated that open space was not a priority!!
I hope readers of this newspaper will come to the July 1st Freeholders meeting and let Lou and his co-horts at the Freeholder board know that the time for an open space plan is NOW, not after the election .In closing, an open space PLAN will improve the quality of life in Cumberland County and make the county more attractive for residents and tourists alike.
