Candidates Forum

Thursday April 30 was the 2nd and last candidate Forum.
100 residents attended the event, and moderator Debra DiLorenzo asked the candidates about their top priorities, There are 15 Candidates so there was not time from question from the public.

If each candidate brought 10 of his folks there could have been 150 folks.
Its hard to tell what will happen. I figured more folks would come out since there

are many issues to be debated in this election which is less then 2 weeks away.
Each candidate was also given two minutes for a closing statement.
Candidate and current Vice Mayor Joseph Derella said the city must continue to grow its Glasstown Arts District with the re-opening of the Levoy Theatre, as well as other programs. The city should also still work to stabilize the tax rate, he added.
"We cannot control the county rate, but must continue to keep" the municipal rate level, Derella said.
Candidate David Ennis, during his allotted time to speak, said the city is ripe for gang movement.
"Gangsters are very intelligent and very strategic. Don't think for one moment they have not looked at this city," the pastor said. "We must create a way to say no to gang leaders."
When candidate Dale Finch spoke, he said he would help the city become more efficient, effective and frugal. Finch said he would make code enforcement of local properties a priority and be tough on owners to keep their properties in good condition.

A letter the the editor I wrote has caused the negitive folks to come out. Well, what can I say
"Until you walk those areas, you don't realize how bad it is," he said.
Charles Flickinger said his top priorities, if elected, are the Levoy Theatre, stabilizing neighborhoods and keeping property taxes level.
"I'm not sure people can afford any more (taxes)," he said. "We must be cautious not to raise taxes any more than we have."
