Tax Myths for Tea Baggers

I went on the Web today and saw some highlights of the Fox News sponsered
"Tea Parties" I saw signs comparing Obama to Hitler and questioning his citizenship. Boy Hannity and his dating service and Limbaugh got them OUTRAGED at the damage that Obama has done in 3 MONTHS. What about 6 outta the 8 years the GOP held sway against the wimpy Dems??
When it comes to Bi-Partisonship its just a one way street! Democrats are also too willing to wimp out when a Republican is in office.

Here, then, are 10 Republican Tax lies:

1. President Obama will raise taxes on small businesses.
CNN concluded "fewer than 2% of small business owners would pay more under Obama's plan." But in case there was any doubt about the Republicans' deception on the point, the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center quickly put it to rest:
Out of 34.7 million filers with business income on Schedules C, E or F, 479,000 filers fall into the top two brackets, according to an analysis of projected 2009 filings by the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center.
The other 34.3 million - or 98.6% - would be unaffected by Obama's proposed rate hike
.
2.The estate tax devastates small businesses and family farms.
3. 40% of Americans pay no taxes.
4. Tax cuts always increase revenue.
5. The GOP is the party of fiscal discipline.
6. Ronald Reagan was the greatest tax cutter of all time.
7. FDR caused the Great Depression, or at least made it worse.
8. Obama's cap-and-trade plan will cost each American family $3,100 a year.
9. Obama's tax proposals will undermine charitable giving.
10. The rich pay too much in taxes already.

Remember Mark, and I paraphrase Ronald Reagan, cash in hand is better than a bridge that won't fall. Keep the section 8 folks, there's a certain charm to all those vacant buildings in Bridgeton, I mean Millville, gee what difference .And always remember, patriots don't pay taxes, it's the American way.

When will these hippies shut up about the common good!? NO NEW TAXES for me. Allow ME to quote Dick Cheney, "my flag pin is bigger than yours, communists".

GOP fiscal responsiblity? What about that massive deficit G.W. left us three months ago with the economy near ruin? Oh, yeah, Bin Laden was in Iraq. Sorry, I forgot, my bad. Weapons of mass distruction, can't for get about them either. This communist will be quiet now. I can't remember three months ago, nor can I remember that Clinton left us with a surplus.

If I offered a refutation to this and used Fox News as my source, you would not put much credence in it. Likewise, CNN is not a credible source to talk about Obama's tax policy.

Just saying . . .

For my part, the tea parties are an equal opportunity to voice concern about out-of-control government. Bush spent unlike conservatives should. Obama is spending too. The one does not negate the other. Government spending is out of hand. Period.

That is what the tea parties were about. That some may capitalize on that for political gain is not surprising, nor does it lessen the outrage of those who attended. And it doesn't erase that government spending is far too great.

can't it be that both Bush and Obama administrations spent too much?

The difference between Bush's and Obama's deficit spending is that Obama's is being done in near depression-like economic conditions, while Bush did his during economically good times. I consider the latter to be much more reprehensible, since the government has always had to spend more (relative to GNP/GDP)in economically bad times. Obama's spending is a necessary evil, whereas Bush's was just evil. I also point out that the last President to balance the budget was a Democrat, Bill Clinton. And he was able to do this in large part thanks to a deficit reduction bill that was passed with no votes from Republicans in either the House or Senate; indeed the Senate was deadlocked 50-50 and Gore had to break the tie. Jimmy Carter was also fiscally responsible, vetoing bills he deemed to larded with pork barrel projects. Reagan, on the other hand, ballooned the deficit and so did George H.W. Bush. In fact every budget that George H.W. Bush submitted to Congress was larger than what the Democratically controlled Congress ended up approving. When it comes to fiscal responsibility Republicans are all talk and no action. Democrats at least have some action to hang their hats on.

Mr.Ownens you make good points. I just thought CNN was a credible source. CNN's bias is subtle compared to FOX and that is pretty obvious to me.
