Arts District at the Crossroads??

Got up early this morning to do my daily browsing of the news of the day. This article in today's AC Press is titled "Millville merchants say arts district isn't bringing shoppers downtown" I believe that we are at a crossroads in downtown Millville. All voices need to be heard andsome changes that may have been dismissed need to be considered. Since I am not a merchanton High Street I can't tell you all but I think the merchants have some ideas..

one more thought...
I think that more of the merchants ought to make it a point to attend the City Commission meetings on a regular basis EVEN if
there is NO issues pertaining to your issues. Just having a presence there at City Hall every 2 weeks on Tuesdays
a 6:30 will help!! Maybe the Merchants Association can send folks down... Heck, you just have to take a look at the Millville First.
I do not agree with they stand for , BUT they show up to meetings
and do affect decisions at times or at least put the pressure on by showing up and speaking out over and over again.
We can do it if we work together and listen to each other cause we all want the same thing, a successful downtown Millville!!

One way to get business is to be OPEN! I was on High Street one day this week around 11:30AM and one local loudmouth's business, whose posted hours say he opens at 11AM, was still locked tight.

I think the city should bail them out. There should be an ordiance that if a business is empty for a period of time that the city pay a reduced rent and let an artist utilize it for their business. This would eliminate the empty store fronts and at the same time benefit those trying to start up a business.

Another artist heard from. Give, give, give. I've got an idea. Get rid of Dr. Warker/Ayres as she doesn't seem to have a clue. Hire Carl Johnson as him and Don have something in common - neither one of them pay taxes in the city of Millville. Carl seems to have all the answers. He just doesn't know what the questions are. Together they should put the final nails in the coffin.

Damn, you're dumb.

Kim Ayres is the hardest working person in Millville without exception and she's extremely civic minded.

Don Ayres doesn't, I don't believe, have the same kind of dedication to the community and the neighborhoods, but he usually knows what's best for the city, as he should.

Both Ayres should have jobs for life in Millville, if they choose to remain here.

Why would you wish ill on the Ayres'. The only way they should leave is to die? Who is really "Dumb"?

Jeez, get off of the Carl Johnson thing. This persistent blogger obviously has a very personal thing about Johnson. Why don't you just duke it out and stop boring the rest of us? On the Arts Center, sad to see the Mexican restaurant and one of the Rusty Heart antique stores closed since the last 3rd Friday. But looks like two new Chinese restaurants are coming in - one in former Foglios and one where Crown Chicken was going to locate...somehow, I don't think Millville is going to absorb all that Chinese food. Good crowd out tonight for 3rd Friday, but with winter and an economy going south, I think the merchants are in for difficult times. Everyone needs to pull together instead of bickering. MDC needs to listen, and the merchants have to say something worth listening to.

Can't duke it out with Carl. He has Dottie as a body guard. Besides, how is he going to pay Brock if he were to get hurt?
