Mark,
A group of us went down for the Third Friday and it was like dead. I thought the artist had a lot going on but there was like nothing happening. Went to the Oar House and I guess it must be for locals because if you're from out-of-town you get treated like you don't belong.
Really disappointed.

Sorry you were disappointed. It was pretty damed cold out as you know and this is why the Oar House did better. I think the service has improved there since the new manager took over. Did you hit the RRCA or
Amethyst gallery. I hear the RRCA was packed. If you have suggestions we all need new voices cause Millville to grow MUST adapt. I am new here as well and its still a small town. Hang in there Millville does grow on you.
Some day I will meet you...
Bye
Really disappointed - What did you expect? Contrary to the excuses some will come up with, the fact remains that the "poor people" of Millville have little to no interest in art when they are having trouble feeding their families and paying their taxes. But as one of the original pioneer artist once said - "the arts district is not for the poor people of Millville but is to attract people from outside our area who have expendable income. Now those same people are looking to the "poor people" of Millville to bail them out. Why? As a couple of business people, to include the owner of Revelations has said, "when you go into business, it's up to the merchants and business owners on their own. If other merchants are looking to the city to keep them in business, they shouldn't be in business". Bryan has an understanding as to how a business is suppose to be operated. One can look for as many excuses as they want concerning the demise of the arts district, but the root of the problem rests with the artists themselves. They wanted to be totally isolated and now they have what they wanted. Can you say Travasties?
I think you were on the Daily Journal blog when Bonfire of the Travisties was bandied about. You have some good points. I wonder in general WHY many folks on these blogs want the Arts District to fail??
How could they do better?? Millville's downtown was a REAL mess 10 years ago so until I hear a better idea then we should try to make this work!
PP and his merry band of nancy pants just want to spoil everyone's downtown. Millville First, the whole lot of them, are literally the Grinch to the downtown's Christmas.
It's not that people want the Arts District to fail. It's that the people who comprise the Art's District don't want to work to make it a success. You, the business person, must make sacrafices in order for a business to be successful. Don't ass-u-me that someone else will step in and bail you out. That probably will not happen - nor should it. If you just want to party, wake up, the party is over.
I think a great majority of the businesses work to succeed. Ok, several are not so business savvy. You might be talking about MDC but I doubt you are speaking of MOST merchants who work harder then most of us who sit here and type
I invest in Millville properties. The success of High Street is necessary to everyones interest. If anyone wants to see how the very same problem was cured in Delray Beach Florida, just let me know.
