May 23 Memorial Day Weekend

Well, I needed a break from blogging and being in controversy and get other stuff done and to chill as the youth would say.
Lets see now I went to a Downtown Millville Merchants Assn. meeting at the RRCA on We ds May 20th. They are getting ready for the 2nd Annual Downtown Millville Arts & Music Antiques Festival that is being held Sunday September 13th. Last year's was excellent and this year promises to be better
With the election being over and Millville electing a fine group of leaders , the drivel that is on the Daily Journal has gone WAY DOWN. What a relief and just in time for the Memorial Day holiday. YEA!! Alas, some did leak out but I found it to be pretty silly in the way in bonehead thinking.

I am looking forward to the annual Margarita Bash at Carl's. I have attended for the past 3 years. There are plenty of folks and food to enjoy and the pool is nice for when it gets real hot. I see folks I do not get to see on a day to day basis. One year we could see the Air Force Jets flying overhead. If you stay after sundown you can see the curiousity below. Have a great Memoral Day weekend!!

Arts District at the Crossroads??

Got up early this morning to do my daily browsing of the news of the day. This article in today's AC Press is titled "Millville merchants say arts district isn't bringing shoppers downtown" I believe that we are at a crossroads in downtown Millville. All voices need to be heard andsome changes that may have been dismissed need to be considered. Since I am not a merchanton High Street I can't tell you all but I think the merchants have some ideas..

one more thought...
I think that more of the merchants ought to make it a point to attend the City Commission meetings on a regular basis EVEN if
there is NO issues pertaining to your issues. Just having a presence there at City Hall every 2 weeks on Tuesdays
a 6:30 will help!! Maybe the Merchants Association can send folks down... Heck, you just have to take a look at the Millville First.
I do not agree with they stand for , BUT they show up to meetings
and do affect decisions at times or at least put the pressure on by showing up and speaking out over and over again.
We can do it if we work together and listen to each other cause we all want the same thing, a successful downtown Millville!!

Millville Antiques, Arts and Music Festival.

It went off very well. Here are some photos

Sure we have the bike shows and we have the car shows, but as far as pure festivals, I think this is the biggest for Millville ever," he said. "I would say this is the largest amount of musicians in any six-block area in South Jersey.""This is like Woodstock for us," said Dan Godbey, a member of the Downtown Millville Merchants Association, which sponsored the event. "People are coming together in the spirit of love and friendship and creative energy -- what life is supposed to be about. And it's all happening on these six blocks."
