The Terrorist Watch List

Hi I read this in the blog Attytood from the Phila Inquirer:
"At least Mandela is off the terror watch list, thanks to legislation. What about 400,000 other people -- some of whom are your law-abiding neighbors or relatives, or you -- still on that list? Frankly, I don't understand what the Democrats and Obama don't make more hay about this -- it's a civil rights issue that outrages most people, and can't easily be demagogued like Gitmo and some of the others."
One of the folks in this picture is on the list and its a sibling of mine in this photo. It to me shows the absurdity of the list. You mearly have to let your driver's license expire. Come on people, lets get real!!

Obama and the Democrats don't make more out of this, and most of the rest of the Bush & Co.'s abuses of power, because to do so would bring to light their own complicity. Their lack of a forceful opposition to the broadening of Presidential power serves their purposes since they will have one of their own in the White House at some point. Of course, the vast majority of people who believe these issues are important will simply give their votes to the Democrats anyway, so where is the incentive for them to really change the system? There is none - therefore - no real substantive change will come.
The Dems will gain the presidecy and they will be the ones defending the abuses while the Repubs complain about rights violations. And on and on it will go, back and forth, until the duopoly is threatened by a real alternative. And that is up to the people - which is why it will never happen.
