Is this going to be a legally sanctioned event or are the artists going to break the law and draw on our emergency services, unnessarily, as they did at the "burn"? We can only be thankful that someone didn't need the services of the fire department while they were addressing the "artist lawbreakers". Are these the "element" Millville is trying to rid themselves of?
Dear Anonymous idiot - Neither artists, nor art have to be "legally sanctioned", you twit!
We have a document called the constitution which you might want to read and maybe have somebody with brains explain to you.
If you want the government dictating what artists can do, paint, say, express, then move to China, or Venezuela - you will be more than welcome other than when you try to exercise speech that is free here in the USA you might be thrown in prison...
So, we do not need any permission from anyone to invite people into our studios to view our art. You might want to borrow someone's brain before you post any other insipid comments.
Carl I mean viol8ion calm down. As usual you evade the issue. You draw on our police department by having out of town artists commit assaults at your wild parties. No wonder your neighbors like to party they take lessons from you. Then you pollute the air by buring art that no one will buy. Then you cry because no one invited you over for fried chicken and to top it off you couldn't cash your unemployment check at the check cashing store. Seems you had no proof of residency - that happens when you don't own property or pay taxes.
One, bozo - I am self-employed and do not collect unemployment! Two - I have stake in more property in Millville that you can figure out with your pea-brained head. Three - the bonfire was such a devastating success that everyone involved can't wait for the next one, and those that missed it will make sure they are there next time. Last - you are a fucking coward hiding behind anonymous posts! But - IP addresses provide a lot of information!
The burn was good, clean fun. As I understand it, the incident with the fire department was an oversight on someone's part to get the proper permits, and now they know, and next year they will have what they need to hold the bonfire. You live and learn.
I take it that you have never gotten a parking ticket or speeding ticket or suffered the consequences of any other "illegal" activities. But, for those who have, the cop that pulls over a speeding motorist is being held up to avoid other more important offences. I guess it's the same thing with the fire department that night.
What, exactly, in the mind of someone who wasn't there, do you think went on? What "element" is Millville trying to rid themselves of? People who peacefully sit in their studios most of the day and create? I'm an artist, and occasionally I even paint nudes, so yeah, that is a threat to our nation's children. A group of people got together who hold the same interests, having a good time together? There were no baby sacrifices, no orgies, no illegal substances, no drunkeness. Of course, we left a little early, so perhaps the human sacrifices and orgies went on later. I can't be sure.
I thoroughly enjoyed the bonfire and plan on being back next year.
Trying to rid a city of unwanted elements is an interesting idea. Don't get me wrong, I love Bridgeton, but have you been to downtown Bridgeton lately in the evening or nighttime? 'Nuff said.
