He's surely having a pirate's feast in the afterlife as we speak. It's terribly sad though. He was an exceptional person and a good friend. He'll be missed by a lot people, without a doubt.
Indeed. We are still in shock. My wife Carolyne emailed the Vinland paper and they put out an article. http://www.thedailyjournal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080618/NEWS01/80618011
Yeah it's fairly unbelievable to me. I only met Don about 3/4 a yr ago, and he rapidly became a best friend of mine, and I never had any people I cared about die save for my dogs (yup they are people too).
Wonderful slide show, Mark. I unfortunately never got to take any pictures with or of Don.
Thanks for the pics and blogs you guys have goin. The hard work is much apperciated by the family. "Big Don" will be greatly missed!! This truly is another hard blow to the family, but he is in a better place. And at peace.
Third Friday had such a bittersweet atmosphere this month. Sad, of course, but there was so much brotherly love in the air. This week will be the first time I've dressed like a pirate for a funeral!
Someone said to me "now he's in the fabric of everything." I like to think of it that way. I think he would have been very pleased to know how much people loved him and the wonderful displays on High Street in his honor. Who knows, maybe he was there.
Great job on the slide show, Mark, I enjoyed it-thanks!
Don, we grew up together, we played gi joe and war and had some great times you were my best friend growing up and i wish we got to hang out more in our later years i will miss you bro.. I will always remember our friendship. Greg Turpin gregt@aupublishing.net
