Thunderbolt Raceway Groundbreaking

After years of delays and hearings the groundbreaking of the NJ Motorsports Park was held on Weds Sept 19th. All the people involved in the project were there. These included politicians, businesspersons and supporters. The speeches were made and the golden shovels were deployed to make it official. I took some video and pictures to give a flavor of the place. Its huge and right now its alot of dirt and promises . According to Rowan University Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship’s economic analysis, within the first five years of operation, the project will have an estimated $229 million economic impact and the creation of more than 6,000 jobs within the greater Cumberland County area. It's to be completed in 7 months to a year. If you are interested check this out.

Mark,
I trust you are enroute to a medical facility. You must have suffered severe brain damage during the incident when Wayno Draino hit you in the head. 6,000 jobs? How did you arrive at that figure? Mayor Quinn stated that he hopes to realize 200 - 300 jobs.

Hello Mr Anonymous. Click on the word "promises" on the blog and you will see where I got the figure of 6000 jobs.
I did fix all the links, so see for yourself.

Mark,
It's Ms.
Because the Rowan study says this doesn't make it so. How did they arrive at that figure? Do you believe them over our Mayor? If you've ever taken the time to research any of their studies, you would find that more often than not they do not hit the mark and when questioned they say there were unforseeable circumstances.

Dear Ms. (what is YOUR name?)
You are correct. I was using the quote to provoke. I wanted to save it for posterity and provoke discussion.
We can have a discussion without the "brain damage" comments.
I am too a bit skeptical of the claims as you could tell by the tone of my entry. I hope you will reveal yourself one day. My email is mkrull@earthlink.net. Have a good day!

While there may only be 200-300 jobs directly offered by the track, if the jobs are "high paying", there can be economic "spillover". An example of that would be in India where programmers can earn $5000 a year, but yet the $5000 salary provides for an additional 15-20 low paying jobs there.

Obviously, Ms. Anonymous doesn't know what she is talking about. She should stay away from this blog, and stick to the blogs offered by Fox News; because by doing so she might raise the average IQ of both here and Fox News.

If you think $5,000 is a high paying job, then you have disclosed your idenity. You are an artist and obviously you do not pay taxes in Millville.

I am not sure who started that Millville Urban legend that Artists do not pay taxes.. The so-called "Artist" you describe was using the $5,000 in India as just an example. As you might know Cumberland County is the POOREST county in New Jersey and economic development is a positive thing.

Mark,
Don't feel bad. Being a sarcastic person myself, I've found that sarcasm doesn't translate well in writing.

Now I understand. As the POOREST county in New Jersey we'll create an art's district to sell paintings to families that don't have jobs, can't afford food, medical care or the increase in taxes. Look what it is costing the taxpayers just to provide police coverage on the Third Friday's. If you want to open your shops one night a month (doesn't seem like a viable business practice to me) and you feel you need additional police coverage, do like the malls do, hire security people. Don't make the taxpayers pay for your monthly whine/wine and cheese parties.
