Computer Dies and Other Stuff

Hello the big news is that our computer just died. I went to an IT guy at the Annenburg School diagnosed it as being a shot, burned out motherboard. The hard drive is intact and he is saving the entire contents of the hard drive. Now it's time to start looking at what options we have for a new computer.
Last nite had a mellow time at Dhalick in West Philly. Saw Tyrone, an old friend from West Philly from the 90's. His friend Loretta was cool. She knew a lot about computers and motorcycles. 
Today was the hottest day of the year. I was inside the welfare office where it was a busy day!! 
Found out that Joyce has decided  to sell the building. It was quite a shock to hear about this. Not sure what will happen next for the classes that are currently being held there. The price is ok but it does need work. It's 8,000 SQ feet of space. Now on the bus and I should be home by 9pm. Will have to put in the AC's in 2 other rooms and walk dogs. Take out Chinese will taste real good on a day like today.

Yup, They DID mess up

  the Pitman express it was supposed to show up 20 min. earlier which would be approximately 527 is already min. late I'll I'm not sure what is going to come it's now 5:44 and the bus came. The bus driver told me there was a misprint. So it's only 3 min earlier. I found out when I got on the bus. So I benefit since I can take PATCO in the morning as well. PATCO is cheaper.
After work I found this yellow ball. It was so bright and chearful that I had to take it with me. After all all of us need some cheer! I donated it to a kid next door since it would get chewed up or lost. I ate breakfast with my dogs this morning. They enjoyed their chow like I did.

Good early morning to y'all. Its been an interesting few days in this second month of 2011. First off High Street is now OPEN.This is a good first step in the renovation of the block. Zoning Board was last night and only 6 of us made it, so one of the cases was postponed. It was a short meeting. We are planning to attend the Levoy Fundraiser next Saturday and get a tour of the Riverfront Condos next Sunday.  I am really looking forward to these events Weds night I stayed at my friends house and  just chilled out. Went to Local 44 and had a beer and then got  a good nights sleep. Last night was a different story, my dog June kept needing to go out. It was 3 times in 5 hours, so I am not feeling so great. Taking the 4:15 crack of down 408 bus today. I have a cat to watch and be a witness to a 8am interview at work for a real pain in the butt customer at work. Ought to be interesting. Well, got to run to catch that early bus.

I got up very early to do the cat sitting and to do the shopping thing I do for my friend with the big head. I cought the 1st 408 out of Millville which is the 4:15am. This bus driver came 3 min early and left 2 min early. This is bogus since he should stick to the posted bus schedule. I did the cats which live in a nice home in University City. The shopping went ok but the bags did get a bit heavy. Work was cool since I did not schedule very many folks so I just did carfare. I left early from work to help with the Obama event we had at our house. This went very well even though some folks did not make it. The folks who came were a nice bunch. We noted not a peep about gun control. Seems the NRA has smothered any chance of realistic gun laws in this country.
Well, we are going to get some SLOPPY weather later today and tomorrow. snow, rain, sleet.  Millville may get no snow at at all and philly might get 5 inches. The weather forecasters are bamboozled by this storm or storms coming this way. We will see how this plays out. I am going to stay overnight in Philly tonite. Cold Outside

It was a very cold day. The wind was up and from what I saw on FOX 29, its going to stay cold for the rest of this week. I took the Rt 408 NJ Transit  bus for only the 2nd time in almost a month. I see this sign all the time about Nicholas Flamel. It seems so goofy to advertise this. I suppose there are alot of Harry Potter fans running around. Work was buzy as usual.

President Obama and congressional Republicans have agreed to a tentative deal that would extend all the Bush-era income tax breaks set to expire on Dec. 31, continue unemployment benefits for an additional 13 months, and cut payroll taxes for workers to encourage employers to start hiring.

Ok, this is all fine and good. How are they going to pay for those Bush Tax Cuts when all you hear is about that Deficit Commission and the debt that needs to be paid down with my future Social Security checks and the ending of the Mortgage Deduction.
Dems always seem to compromise.

Goodbye Pittman Hotel

After 100 years the Pittman Hotel was demolished yesterday September 24th. It was opened as a tourist spot but fell in disrepair and neglect. As The Gloucester County Times reported back in December 2009

PITMAN The Hotel Pitman has closed its doors due to foreclosure and will go to sheriff's sale on Dec. 9.

"This is not something the town did," said Councilman Jeff Sanders. "The property has been owned by the same person for about 40 years and this was between him and the bank. This was entirely the bank's decision and the owner's decision to respond in this way."

Councilman Russ Johnson said the hotel located on Pitman Avenue had been up for sale for about 18 months and had been listed on Craigslist. He said the council saw a few presentations from interested buyers but none of them followed through. On Saturday, the place was padlocked and the tenants told to leave.

Council President Russ Johnson said following demolition, the lot will be vacant until someone decides to buy it from Monroe Savings Bank, the property's current owners. Any potential developers must then come before the planning board because the property has been declared a redevelopment zone by the borough.
Council approved a redevelopment plan in April that would allow construction of either a senior apartment complex or four detached single-family homes.

I will miss looking at that building when I ride the 408 bus. They do not build places like that any longer.

Last Day of June 2010

Good morning. Its a fine day with MUCH lower humidity. I slept in since I am driving into work today. I don't get to see this kind of action. Yesterday, on the 6:53pm 408 Bus out of Camden, I saw this heroin addict shooting up at the back of the bus. Man, I got the f** out of there and moved up front. The driver was already told about and said to call NJ Transit and ask for transit police to take a ride. I mean, its pretty obvious who is an addict, you do not have to be a cop to figure it out. Good thing since I have a full schedule of shopping and walking 2 dogs today. Still have to get my July pass for the bus soon. I will have work hard and block out the noise

Last night the City Commission had their meeting. Lou Thompson retired and was praised all around. Some say he actually ran the city with his wealth of knowledge. The city authorized $5,000 for "professional services" to defend against a lawsuit against Track Racket's lawsuit. Just like Paul Porrima and Citizens United did Track Racket is going to cost ME and ALL taxpayers money that we do not have. How many more cops could we have if not for spiteful lawsuits by these groups. I need to ask how many lawsuits the city is defending while laying off employees and furloughing the police. I do realize the $$ come from different parts of the budget BUT this is STILL a waste of taxpayer money. We could have had Summer Events but NOOoooo we have to defend against lawsuits that will get tossed out anyhow. While this was going on, the Commission said NO to a request to allow taverns to sell at 9am on July 4th which falls on a Sunday. This was a one-time request. Fellow blogger Robert Owens feels this was a poor decision since it denies businesses an opportunity for more revenue. He makes a good point. Commissioner Dave Vananaman was the only one to give his opinion. I think they were concerned about their reputation and the city''s reputation. This is understandable but again these were businessmen in a shaky economy. Last year I was called out for supporting a rental fee increase. One quote I loved was this gem "Unlike Mr. Krull with his college degree and comfortable city job"Good news, Millville is getting UEZ cash of 535,000. This will pay for 4 police, 3 firefighters and 266,263 in the Mall's debt service. No events can be paid by UEZ due to new restrictions. Good bye Summer Events for a long time..I guess. This week is our monthly Zoning Board meeting. Meetings have been short since the economy and real estate is still in the tank. This photo is of the back yard where our trash cans used to be. March 13th.. All Wet Yet Fun

Hello there. This past Saturday, I got up and took the US Census test at 10am. I did ok not great but passed pretty easily. It was a bit stressful since 28 questions had to be answered in 30 min. More time was taken with completing paperwork and listening to instructions then the actual test. Now I must wait to hear from them.Next I took the bus to Philly to do an errand. I lost the art card I got Friday. The rain was extremely heavy with flooding all over. It was really bad between Westville and Brooklawn. I filmed our bus negotiating the flooded out roads. I then got soaked in Frankford, well my pants and feet only. I then got back on the trains to get to Camden. Man the wind was kicking and blowing at 30-50MPH and that is no lie. I waited at Camden for 30 min since the Woodbury Rt 406 bus was 20 minutes late. I then caught the Woodbury Bus to Shellenes in Westville to meet some friends I have met taking the NJ Transit 408th. We had a nice time.It was a good nite... There were alot of folks bar-hopping via the bus when we were there.
I was quite the tired soul after that.
