The Delaware River Port Authority is going to raise fares


a buck in Sept, then another buck in 2010. They are also make it so every 2 years, they get cost of living increases automatically!!
For me the worst part is the EZ-Pass commuter discount will be phased out in the next 2 years.
I was getting a $18/ month discount. Now, no discount and I will keep paying more.
This is the part that galls me:

"Since 1999, it has spent $375 million to help build the Kvaerner (now Aker) Philadelphia Shipyard, Lincoln Financial Field, the Kimmel Center, the National Constitution Center, the Camden aquarium, and the Riversharks' stadium; to spruce up Admiral Wilson Boulevard in Camden; to invest in a still-unbuilt tram across the river; and to boost dozens of other projects.

In February, the bistate agency approved spending $10 million to help build a soccer stadium complex on the Chester waterfront.

Yesterday after work I went to Center City to get some items and found a Jolly Roger cap. It was overpriced but it is very unique. I plan to wear it on 3rd Friday this month. SummerFest is this weekend and I am looking forward to it. I hope they can keep the Holly City Family Center open. A well-placed source gave me the run down on what has been happening

"For your information the city committed $70K for 5 years and the BOE committed $50K for 3 years. The city actually paid the $70K fee for 7 years. Last year Commissioner Shannon put together a report that demonstrated that the services that the city and it residents received did not justify the $70K. It is also a ½ cent on the tax rate. The center has lost over $200K last year and is projected to lose approximately $225K this year. There were some very smart and talented people around the table yesterday lets hope they can put something together to keep the center open. "

We will see...
I then met up with Dana, Maryann and some friends of Don. We got to catch up on recent events and the like. After that I went on Dottie's walk. I do see improvements on 401 Vine St. There were NO kids hanging around and that is great! Lets us keep this up.
Well, back to work now...

Lunch with My Mother

We went and had lunch at Otto's Bar in Horsham. They have a fine beer collection as you can see. The food portions were LARGE and so were the beer glasses. Afterwards we saw the 5th and final set of Wimbelton and Nadal won. What great Tennis that was today. On to a new and funky week!!

Sat July 5th 2008

Today was cloudier then yesterday and less hot. We decided to take a trip to Whitesbog Village near Browns Mills NJ. We first stopped at downtown Hammonton and had smoothies, coffee and a bite to eat. Downtown Hammonton is not so bad but then again I doubt we could move there and afford it. We then went on Rt 70 East towards Lakehurst and then to Rte 530 to Whitesbog Village. It was empty of folks except this nice legally blind woman who told us that all the houses are rented out. She told us there are lots of bugs and at that point it started to rain pretty hard and we headed out on Rt 530 to Browns Mills NJ. We looked at the housing and the area and it did not do much for us. Skip's Bar and Grill where the beer was cold the snacks were tasty. We talked to the bartender who gave some of his life history as a single parent etc.
We then set off to Vineland where a cool party was held. Crazy Jake and Don's pirate friends were there as well as Carl Liz and Dana. Paul told us him and his wife are going to Paducah Ky in August. Maybe we will join him and check the place out and escape the RRCA madness! The pool was a welcome relief and I took the plunge. I am home now and here is Sitar Bob on FOX 29!!!

Independence Day 2008

Today the news of Carolyne's contract not being renewed hit the Millville News today. I will leave the commentary to others for the time being. Suffice to say the last 3 months were not very nice.
We went to Bogarts and had yummy food good people and music to boot. We then cleared out the RRCA office of personal items and returned the RRCA Computer. and now I am going to take a nice shower and chill
