Good day everyone from Costa coast from Alaska to New Jersey. it’s a rainy gray day in Anchorage, Alaska temperature approximately 55°. We met up with Hannah at the coffee shop called Fire Island Coffee. We got Hannah caught up in our trip through the interior of Alaska. She had seen pictures, but we told her the behind-the-scenes story of seeing moose the various hotels and and recommendations if she should ever go to Talkeetna, which I think she would like you totally appeal to her outdoorsy camping interest, etc. Anyway, we had some delicious coffee. She helped us navigate the long line and saved a table for us. We hung out for a while and then we gave her stuff back including her bear spray and we’re ready to go to the Car Rental place to drop off the car and head to Anchorage international airport. We drove to the Rental Car Pl. and successfully checked out the car without any hitch. In fact, we made nice conversation with the guy behind the counter and a fellow travelers flying on the same flight as we are. He invited us to board his Uber since he was taking the same flight to the airport, which was really cool. Well, we passed the time. I found some Pepsi somewhere in the airport and we’re just about to lift off at 3:50 PM. That’s the plan LIFT off but I’m sure it’ll be closer to 4 PM. Still figuring out how if the WiFi is available on this plane. Our flight was delayed because the food hadn’t arrived for catering. It’s 432. We’re just about to lift off. Will we arrive pretty late around 1015 hours pick us up which was really nice of her and then we went to the In-N-Out Burger because it was so late. It was the only place it was open and there was a huge line of cars for that place we got some food we ate and then we headed to bed because it was pretty late.
Hi! We got up around 9 o’clock and checked out of the hotel. We are staying at. We went to Sammy‘s City diner in downtown Anchorage. It was a little overpriced, but it’s very good service very clean and the food was good. The coffee was not great but the pancakes and the sausage are very good. We hung out there for a while, then headed out to Wasilla Alaska. This is the home of Sarah Pain, who was the mayor here and then she became governor of Alaska for a stent. We drove through beautiful mountain peaks and got to Wasilla and it wasn’t what I expected. It was more spread out and sprawl like and there was no central core per se. We did see the City Hall area and we took a picture of that of course. We went to a huge ginormous comic book store it’s comic books and games primarily. And we saw another one of these espresso stores that are just like a tiny little building and people drive-through and pick up coffee. They seem to be a thing in Alaska. We went to a building that has moose subs and it’s a historic building and we took care of some business there and then we decided we’d leave towards Takena. We decided to go to the headquarters of the Iditarod race, which is in Wasilla. We have to see artifacts, sleds nice looking Cabins and they actually had the dogs riding people on wheels because obviously there’s no snow this slide them around, but this one guy revived, revive the race back in the first Iditarod race was in 1973 and fought to keep the event alive through its most difficult years now it’s a national historic landmark. It’s where they used to deliver mail in the lake. Very cool story! Well, after we took a hike through Wasilla, we figured it was time to get her butts moving and head out towards Talkeetna! Well, we Drew drove about 13 miles past it and thenthe instructions told that told us to turn up dusty Road and turn around. We’re like oh shit it’s a kind of road that Rental Car company wouldn’t want us to go go to so once we got here We went to the Latitude 62 and it was quite the place it was about what I expect. It was like a drinking bar really dark drinking bar. We paid our lodging at the bar with the bartender who had our names in it handwritten book of lodging. They did give us the last room furthest away from the bar, which was nice. The room is extremely basic. Everything works, but there’s no refrigerator. You know that kind of thing but you know the price was right it makes up for the fact we’re gonna be flying to a glacier in two days which was very expensive so there’s Talkeetna has a reallyquaint little downtown with one Main Street and it seems very chill and tourist deep and nice way. So we’re gonna be here for four days. Then while we were at Talkeetna, we decided to go to a pizza place called Mile High Pizza Pie. We got a margarita pizza with pepperoni put on top and it was really tasty. The dough was superb and it was a really delicious pizza. I’m so glad we ordered it and so was Mary. After we eat the pizza we hung out for a while I mean, and the owner of the place was really friendly and talked to her for a couple seconds. Looks like everybody there was having a good time is a really easy-going establishment. We then took a stroll to where the water was and we saw that they were gonna be selling these Cabins these tiny little Hotel in a cabin where it just basically a bed and a bathroom and they faced the water so they’re gonna open them up as pretty exclusive priced type of things I even gave out a phone number. I’m tempted to call him when I have enough caffeine in me just just for shits and giggles. See how much they want to charge for that stuff. Anyhow, we got back to the hotel and it was fairly quiet, but we heard really loud train come through I mean this train was maybe 100 yards away and it was loud. We do have the constant planes and one one motorcycle came through etc. but the room is nice. It’s very very basic and a bit small but it’s fine for sleeping and stuff. So tomorrow we have a date to ourselves and then the day after our flyover and glacier Landing at Denali, believe it or not. So Odyssey and Alaska continues and debated. Today was a lot milder than yesterday in Anchorage, which was hard to believe, but I guess we’re going more inland and away from a large body of water. Well, in the midst of making this, I didn’t even include pictures of us by the water with the rough current and the little mini lodges that they’re building. So I’m going to write more of this now because I really want to include this I also am attempting to make a 14 minute YouTube movie but because there’s 100 photos syncing I can’t get it done right this moment.
