Monday, May 19: Last day at LBI and Shoulder

After another excruciating evening of no sleep, I dozed off for about an hour and a half and then got up. We then checked out of The


Seahorse Motel. We headed down to go to north on the island towards ship bottom and surf city to find someplace to eat. 

We found a nice little breakfast spot. One of the nice things about coming off season is that there’s plenty of room in the restaurant to just sit and eat and not face a huge amount

 of crowds or a wait times because of tourist. I had a Philly cheesesteak that was good. I couldn’t have pancakes again after having them last night. The place was very nice and I bought

 a T-shirt for my trouble in Mary and a nice mug. Another shirt for my T-shirt museum or possibly a Christmas gift I don’t know. I think I’ll keep this one. It’s a beautiful sunny day here 

I cannot complain about the weather I am gonna be looking at possibly getting a massage on the island just to give me some relief before I have to drive back to good old Philadelphia. 

Anyhow, Mary and I made a massage appointment. They had 3️⃣ locations and eventually we found the one up in surf city was the only one I had somebody working. 


We had driven all the way up from surf city where we ate breakfast and then drove down the boulevard but the problem is they’re doing working on the 

boulevard and kept having a diverse to the ocean road consistently. Once we got to the massage therapist, she did me up very very well. It really hurt and she suggested several things. 

Hello –

I just had a deep tissue massage on my left shoulder. The massage therapist had some interesting feedback.  She said in her 13 years of practice she had never seen a client in so much pain.

she said my muscles were supple & it did not feel like a pulled muscle.  she questioned whether it was nerve pain. She touched me near my neck & it was excruciating. She suggested possibly acupuncture or chiropractic due to possible nerve pain.  because it clearly wasn’t my muscles, she thought maybe an MRI would be useful to find out what’s going on. 

She also suggested I wear a sling to limit my motion.

I also went to Jefferson urgent care on 5/14 & they performed a Xray of the area. They noted there was a deformed rib, and I wondered if something had happened to the rib & that it brushed up against a nerve.

The massage therapist did not think I was ready for any kind of PT tentatively scheduled for June 4. 

I first noticed left shoulder pain on Sat 5/10 — today is 5/19 & there’s little if any improvement.  2 sleeping pills, 600 mg of ibuprofen plus a muscle relaxant taken together were not enough to mitigate the pain so that I could sleep last night. 

She couldn’t turn me over on the Massage bed without me being in pain

The above statement in italics is what we’re gonna send to the doctor, but I have to shorten it. So we’re going to the custard right now for a nice ice cream cone and I’m gonna buy a sling at the CVS. But we went to the CVS and got the sling and two back pads for sticking on the back and radiating heat. Mary had me go to the CVS website and found at least $15 in discounts or at least it seemed that way so the whole order was about 15 bucks When the sling itself was at least $20 anyhow I had to drive with one hand which was not so fun, but it wasn’t bad except trying to move the sunvisor which was 

Lreally a stupid ass sunvisor we had to drive there setting sun glare. The amazing thing is that rush-hour was mostly over. We didn’t have that bad traffic getting back. Mayor had a 

great idea to return the car tonight instead of waiting till tomorrow morning, which was a great idea. I was totally site because now I can go to Millbourne and not sweat that goddamn drive that car all the way down to Mike’s house and then driving it all the way back up. I will remember

 that it’s good to have a smart girlfriend. Meanwhile, we went to the car rental place and of course it was closed but the doors were unlocked so we just went in and put the keys down and wrote a note that the car has been
 returned. That worked out I think I took a picture just in case Hertz had an issue, but I put a note down in along with my receipt it’s now 8:07 PM. I’m gonna go back to Mary’s and then head
out to Millbourne and stay in Millbourne for one nightfor not one night. I will not keep up with me 

trying to foolishly try to get sleep.
