The Past Week of Nov 5

Last  week was  a good week primarily because the president won reelection. He faced brutal attacks  over the past  four years and I love reading conservative sweat it after being such boastful loudmouths for so long anyhow the week was decent I was busy at work usual and I felt better in a mental sort of way.Its growing up a bit late. Here are some photos from the week.

President Obama Wins 2nd Term

It was a good night for President Obama and a bad night for Todd Aiken and Richard Murdock. Looks like Allen West is going too. The Republicans have succeeded in keeping the House. They also succeeded in  creating exhaustion in the country.
I have NEVER seen so many attacks on a sitting president in my entire life. I thought they were bad with Clinton. You know he plotted to kill Vince Forster, and Ken Starr spent lots of taxpayer money to find out that an intern had oral sex after they ordered a pizza.
President Obama deserves a 2nd term. He has shown a steady head with the economy and foreign policy
Republicans are blaming Chris Christe, Hurricane Sandy, and my favorate a high school mural!
Here is what one website, the Daily Beast, take on why President Obama won this race with 332 Electoral Votes!
In reality, the Republican Party didn’t lose the election because of Sandy, because of Christie, or because of a mural. It lost because 71 percent of Latinos, 93 percent of black people, 73 percent of Asian-Americans, and 55 percent of women voted against it. The party did not embrace policies that appeal to these demographic groups—and lost. And that’s the GOP’s fault.
Well, have a nice weekend with NO political Ads

I am 51 Years Old Today

Add caption

I then went to work late and the morning wasn't too bad now I am attempting carfare to be done I'll go home and take it easy and then hopefully hang out with Wes and what's the elections. Its very close but leaning for the President. I think the political Cartoon shows one iconic moment in this election when President Obama worked will with Gov Chris Christie. As for me just had a normal work

November 4th Eastern Standard Time

Coffee Please
This morning I first got up and when I glanced at my phone, it was an hour earlier! So I went back to sleep. I woke an hour later and thought I would try to make a 10 am meeting at 3rd and South Street.
I  got the 21 Bus at 9:35 this morning. As you can see I started off without coffee. I ate, showered and went to the bus stop. Google maps was correct in that I did wait about 6 minutes at the stop.
On the way to South Street on the Route 57 bus a huge Tom Smith for Senate bus clogged the road then tried to park on the side of 3rd street What is your plan for the week? Maybe I will see you downtown or the web or a text message. Who really knows, I don't control others thoughts and actions, ya know!
Had a fun B-day party last night. Photos are here
Have a great morning & I hope you did NOT forget to turn your clocks back this morning or you may have been confused. Remember, "Spring Forward and Fall Back!
Gov. Christie Today
After the meeting I met up with my friend and we did some window shopping for shirts and pants at various stores downtown. I was really looking for a hat since it's so cold. I believe the low tonite is going to be 32 degrees for the first time this Fall. Speaking of weather, the aftermath of hurricane Sandy are wire apparent. New York may ask for a 2nd day of voting. The CNN reporter said it would be 20 days after Election Day. How weird is that? I mean the election could be decided by then and if it NOT, well," Houston we have a problem."
Back Room
The Blue Light Special
Back to my day, I did buy a hat at Marshall's, at least I think it was Marshall's. My friend and I went to Starbucks and I got 2 coffee's with my found Starbucks card. We agreed to meet at Saxbys at 7:30 before the 8pm meeting next door. I then decided to hit the Apple store to charge my phone. Well, with the iPhone 5, the store has very few plugs available, that fit my my iPhone 3GS. I next went to the AT&T store and charged the phone there. I had to hang around the store for quite a bit. I think I was there for about an hour. I then hung out in CC and met my friend at the 7 PM AA meeting. and of course it was packed but the speaker was very good. He lived with a mentally ill Mother and an alcoholic Father and had tons of roaches in the house and was pretty good with the ladies. Here is the Album that I have been listening to while on the computer for the weekend. I am just hooked on Steely Dan again. They are a timeless band and I never I was not way into this album like Aja or Countdown to Ecstasy. Well, tomorrow November 5th is my Birthday and I will be 51 years old. I think of Area 51 nowadays!

Cold Saturday: Early Birthday

Stu, Samanthia, Wes, Helen
Hi it was  Saturday yesterday.. I got up went to the meeting down on third Street in Christ Church. Now that was a good meeting. There are people like me that look at the mirror. I then went in the cold!! BURR!!! It'snow too cold to not have a hat! I then walked to get my haircut doneand face shaved. I  then had a political discussion with 2  Romney supporters,  a couple pro-Catholic Romney supporters. They were there due to being against the  HHS mandate by the Obama admin. on coverage for birth control. They believe that this is threatening religious freedom.
Romney Supporter
I went home and did NOT clean my oven. I took an hour nap before my friends showed up and we drove to Willow Grove to meet my Mom at the Olive Garden. Well Wes brought over his cute little daughter Samanthia along with him. That was cool of him. I got a birthday cake and some things I wil need to traval to Nova Scotia. That I am looking forward to next Summer.

Friday November 2nd: Felt Nice :)

2nd Street El Stop
Today is first Friday. Friday, November 2, 2012 i woke up really groggy and had to get go to a store early in the morning and get some milk. Next, I went to the Sunrise meeting via the RT 21  and it went pretty well. I shared and I was nervous but   I went to Sunrise and I shared. I was nervous but it was real!I was glad I did it early in the meeting!  Honesty does not go down so easily. Practice and more practice !
I really felt grounded today after waking up VERY drowsy.ZZzzz..
I wish I could stay in this calm and even mood. With some faith I hope I can'
I want to work on time! It was busy yet I did not get the carfare nearly done?. I was OK with that though. It just shows what life feels like when I am in a good focused mood.?! I have to pick up a package for Pat but I left at 5:30 from work because of I I caught the SEPTA Route 21 from 57th and Chestnut, after work heading to my friend's house. I was to pick up 2 packages at the 30th Street main Post Office. I had slips to pick up from his house at 42nd Street. While on the bus, I decided to write a check for my student loan. As I finished writing this check, I noticed my checkbook missing. I looked up and down, in my pockets and asked fellow passengers if they had seen the Green checkbook.I came to the conclusion that someone STOLE my checkbook!!
Well, it was a good time to get off the bus at 38th where I went to the TD Bank and decided to open a new account. I had tho and TD is going to monitor my old ACT for my next direct deposit so I don't end up w a check being mailed. I had to change my acct. anyway since my info was compromised. They lost some backup "tapes" FIVE MONTHS AGO!!  So I did do the right thing since I should have changed my account when I got the letter in mid-October that alerted me to this breech!  I went to TD 10 min after it was stolen.
I then met my friend and his wife at 8:00PM The film festival was canceled and so we just walked around Old City to check out Galleries and get a snack. We had a nice time. I was invited back to their place for a Stromboli. We watched CSI NY and Blue Bloods on the TV. They are Neilson raters and almost done their 2 year commitment.
Getting New Account
I have not heard from Maddy much in the past week not sure what's up but I believe she is extremely busy this week.
Let's see if my mood holds up this weekend.
The election is around the corner. Lets close this writing with a clip from the Simpson's. Note the electoral map in the background, note who wins Florida, Colorado, Virgina and Ohio..

I turn 51 Monday November 5th. Getting together with friends tomorrow and see my mother.

Sunday Oct 28 Sandy: The Beginning

3 Cans in My Meal I Made
Front Window
Today is October 28 and the rain has started as of about 3 PM it's about 430 now. Earlier I went to the Satellite Cafe st 50th and Baltimore Ave. We talked about Stinking Lizaveta She has jury duty for 3 WEEKS starting Monday. (the City of Philly is closed till Weds October 31st due to hurricane Sandy.) after we split our separate ways,
Lending My Neighbor a Transpass
I went to the State Store and made it though the storm driven crowd to fetch some cheap red wine and also an umbrella at a PACKED CVS. Last errand, was to get Indian food for my rice surprise?. . I pulled out my air conditioner. I have been face I pulled out my air conditioner booking and e-mailing quite a bit at Pats place before I started cooking my dinner and lunch for a few days. now I am cooking up some rice Indian surprise and then I plan to go to pats house and hang out meantime I have to remember to charge my phone up in case the power does go out. Now my phone is charged up and I will at some point go to Pat's

Well, Its now 6:40 and the Commonwealth of Pa has not DECIDED us state employee if we are to report to work. I mean Corbett declared a STATE OF EMERGENCY! In my 20 years Republican or Democrat, every governor dithers on giving us the day off. He says folks to stay home and be safe, yet he is considering having us slog though the wind and rain of this FRANKENSTORM!!  I mean REALLY....REALLY??
This is from the Harrisburg Patriot News as of 7 PM  tonite:
Corbett was having an evening meeting with Cabinet members to discuss the preparations their departments are taking. He said that's when it will be discussed whether state employees should report to work tomorrow. For now, he said employees should plan on coming to work.

As for schools, he said school officials are well practiced at knowing what to do in weather emergencies.

“Be prepared to stay in your homes for an extended period of time, a few days and possibly without power, without water,” he said, to citizens.
I do not see any reason for non-essential state government employees to report. None of my clients are going to make it. SEPTA is going to be shut down, schools are closed, the City of Philadelphia is closed. Come on Governor, you declared a STATE OF EMERGENCY. Lets just call it a day.
Its now going on 7:30 pm and so far it seems to be pretty calm right now. Even the presidental election is being affected by this storm. This storm is going to Virginia, Ohio, and Pa
Boy, my Indian Surprise is SPICY. Its so delicious that I will share with Pat and whoever wants to visit my humble abode.
I talked to my old temp roommate tonite while eating my meal and he told me about this musician called "Rodriguez"  His full name is Sixto Rodriguez. I was URGED to check him out, so I went to YouTube and found this tune. Its pretty cool.

I think I am not going to work. I am tired and need to sleep in. Its now 9pm and here are some more highlights of early today. Enjoy them and be safe.

Sunset Last Night at 44th and Sansom
Takin Care of Business
This write-up concerns it's self with a certain today October 27th. I first met my sponsor. This was the kind of sponsorship that I needed to move forward from my rut. I met several people from the program as we were having coffee at Saxby's at 20th and Walnut Streets. I then  came home and cooked up some pasta. I was quite hungry and ate quite a bit. I felt very tired and  took a nap. Boy oh boy was that really nice! When I woke up 2 hours later, I dispensed with my recycling.  I decided to do a few unfinished errands.
To the Rooms
I went to the U Do We Do to drop  off laundry  and next went to Fresh Grocer to drop off a bunch of plastic bags for recycling. Next I went  to the Post Office to mail in my fines and restitution that I  owe. I paid a part of it. I was NOT able to get the online payment website to work after several frustrating attempts to do so. To finish my SEPTA trip, I went downtown to meet a friend at a book signing at the book trader. His wife writes horror novels and won an award at the Terror Film Festival that I reported on last week.. We then went to their condo nearby and watched Criminal Minds and Law and Order SVU. We got the the weather report...
At Friend's Condo
As you all know, we here in the East Coast are gonna get whacked by hurricane Sandy. By the time it gets here in late tonite and Monday, it will not be a hurricane BUT will collide with a Nor'easter and cold air to cause a possible Clusterf^%ck!!
Well, Obama still has a slight lead in the Battleground States. Its really too close to call and it seems its a matter of which poll suits my support for the President.
Well, got to meet a friend at the Satellite Coffee now.

End of October

Election Almost Over :)
Dumpster Row Oct 25
Good morning everyone. It has been a good week to be a sober person. We see the media obsessing over Donald Trump and his Birther BS. At least it keeps the media from giving Mitt a pass on still endorsing Richard Mourdock after he said his f**ked up comment about rape!! I mean these are NATIONAL political candidates endorsed by the NATIONAL Republican Party. Richard Mourdock is not out of line with the Republican Party Platform. Not one bit my friend. Here is the section that Mourdock is following:
The Sanctity and Dignity of Human Life
Faithful to the “self-evident” truths enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, we assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and endorse legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children.
OK, I have beat that one down enough for this week. If you want to look at a nice fun to read electoral map, go to the Huffington Post. Its updated everyday if not several times a day.
Now its time for more interesting and positive story. My Thursday October 25 2012.
Steps of the Bailey Building.
We Deliver for You :)
I went to the morning meeting and it went well. I agreed to meet my sponsor this morning (Friday Oct 26) but he had a meeting for his company. Good thing, more time to read Bill's story and take notes. Work was just off the chain as usual. There is so much work and no EXTRA time to finish ANYTHING. I am 9 years away from retirement so I will press on. I will work on getting some travail time in for myself. I hope to go to Nova Scotia next Summer. A friend owes my $500 which he will pay when he gets his loan. So at least I have most of the flight paid :)
I then left work at 2:45 for an appointment and went to the ARD place at the Baily Building (next to a State Store...) and gave proof that I have done rehab. I then did some pick up and delivery for a buddy at the US Post Office. The line was nice and short and I had FIVE boxes to carry to the 21 bus. Thank goodness that they were NOT heavy. I then almost got bit by his dog who must have been in a bad mood.Well got to head for work now. Here is a video with my favourite Velvet Underground song.

Election Update: October 23rd

I crashed at 8pm and woke at 6am. I missed the debate but the web had all kinds of info and clips. The President had some good comebacks at Gov Romney. There is one that was pretty funny: Mitt, the '80s Called. They Want Their Policies Back" I think my personal favorite of the highlights was the President taking Gov Romney to school about the nature of the modern military and military spending in general. Here is the exact response from the President and the video

"But I think Gov. Romney maybe hasn't spent enough time looking at how our military works," the president continued. "You mentioned the Navy, for example. And that we have fewer ships that we had in 1916. Well, governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets because the nature of our military has changed." "We have these things called aircraft carriers where planes land on them. We have these ships that go underwater, nuclear submarines. And so, the question is not a game of Battleship where we're counting ships, it's what are our capabilities?"
The President was sharp and he is going to need to continue to be sharp for the duration of the election. Unlike Gov. Romney, President Obama does not have the luxury to slip up. He will have to be his best to eeek out a win in 2 weeks Here is a map from the Huffington Post dated from Yesterday October 23rd
Left, Current Map, Top Right: Romney Wins, Bottom Right: Obama Wins!
This site allows you to create your own map. I made 2 maps. I gave Obama, Colorado, Iowa, Michigan. I gave Romney Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, and New Hampshire. I agree with most that Ohio will decide this election just like in the 2004 election where the Electoral votes of Ohio enabled George W. Bush to win over John Kerry. On my map, Romney will win with 270 Electoral Votes over President Obama who will get 268 Electoral votes. Look closely at OHIO. That is the ballgame folks...AGAIN
2004 Presidential Election: Note Ohio
2000 Election Bush v Gore: Florida and Ohio
As one can see, Romney can pull off this election. Frankly a Romney Win would in essence look like the 2000 election. It also looks like my Map that I created except I gave Obama that state. Let me know what you think.

Sunday October 21st

A Close-up of the Mariposa Co-op
Yesterday Sunday was a nice sunny day in West Philly. I first met a friend at the Satellite Cafe located at 50th and Baltimore Ave at the old Firehouse. Remember the Firehouse Food Market? Now it a Sam Adams Brew house.
New Location for the Mariposa Co-op
Anyhow my Friend and I had a fun time drinking coffee and making each other laugh. I love to laugh and make others laugh as well. It really take my mind off my clutter that fills my mind. I took no photos since we were having a such a fun time talking and sharing. Hope we will make it a habit. This is a good positive habit for me. As I was riding back towards my place, I saw for the first time the NEW location for the Maraposa Co-op! They have moved to a large building that used to hold a bank and it most recently was a church.
I will have to go inside sometime. Boy when I first joined, there were LESS then 200 members. This was way back in 1995 before the Penn Alexander School was built and made West Philly safe for young parents to send their kids to public school.. This of course depends where you live. My side of 44th and Sansom is NOT in the Catchment Area BUT across the street is. Go figure.
42nd and Chestnut
After I got home, I decided to take out the trash get some iced tea and start blogging. I wrote about Saturday's Terror Film Festival and looking up some of my inactive blogs. I plan to copy some of them and post them on this blog since this is the one I plan to stick with.
After that I napped. Nice quick hr nap. I then took the 21 Bus, returned Keys to a friend and met another friend at Saxby's Coffee where I got a smoothie. We talked and went next to an 8pm meeting. It was packed but a nice young woman shared her story. I then got back and FINALLY got my clean laundry from the You Do, We Do.

Here are the latest polls for the Nov 6 election. Shit its close!!

Right Wing Freakout: Birth Control

He calls out the self-righteous jerks that compare Obama's health care reform with Nazi Persecution.

This is how the Republican Party has gone to the right. They question the coverage of birth control. If the Republicans are elected, this is who controls your choice.
This was Jon Stewart in February 2012.
