More changes

I stayed home from work today to get 4 more hours of sleep to fight off my scratchy throut. We are getting stuff moved out and around for an artist to move in in 2 days.tend the fun festivites at the Oar House but we are having dinner with the artist around 6 tonite which is an hour from now. We moved out stuff from my old office and donated my old computer to Goodwill and gave back stuff that we had from Rusty Heart to get some room in the attac. The front room was cleared of the old stove several days ago and we still have more items to shove out. Our stupid cat Oggie just f&*#@ got out. Of course it jumped the fence to the neighbors house. The last thing I need right now to to bury 2 cats in one week!!! Well, back to work on the upstairs. Have a good weekend. Go Phillies!!!!

Death and Change

Just before I went to the Millville Gardens Celebration , I had just finished walking my dogs when we descovered that one of cats Odessa lie still on the street in front of our house still with blood out of its mouth. She was dead from being hit by a car...How sad and depressing. The show had to go on and after leaving the Millville Gardens event. We moved the old wood burning stove with the able help of Bob, Carl, Jozef, and Bucky. Someone aided our efforts with a professional grade handtruck so we could move it to the backyard studio. Attempts to move an old sofa bench were less sucessful and we left it outside. A new paint job for the stairwell is now needed. As you might know we have closed the gallery and we need to clear out space for studios for art and yoga. I went to the Sun Bank and took care of some business. Appairently, they your checkcard frozen if you do not use it, even on a business account. Overall a strange gray day that feels 5 months away from may. One bright spot the Phillies are ahead 2-0 in the top of the 8th inning in Game one of the World Seris vs the Yankees.

Millville Gardens Demolition Celebration

It was a drizzly day in Millville but Folks were out to celebrate the beginning of the end of Millville Gardens. This event had been a long time coming. This blog has followed the progress of the city’s and neighbors efforts to get rid of this eyesore of the 3rd Ward. The 3rd Ward Neighborhood Group lead the fight to demolish this blight. Don Cossaboon-DeGregorio (aka Big Don the Pirate) made a splash at a City Commission meeting in April 2008. He wore his green Tear Down Millville Gardens t-shirt and brought a large sledgehammer and urged the city to demolish Millville Gardens. The sledgehammer Mayor Shannon used on the sign was the same one Don brought to commission chambers that day in April. I could not be at that meeting since I was at the time campaigning for the Millville School Board. I bought one of my Tear Down Millville Gardens t-shirts Mayor Shannon, Commissioners Derella, Vanaman and Finch all spoke of the common efforts of neighbors, city officials and professionals to get to this point. Bucky and I posed with sledgehammers and our green t-shirts to mark this occasion.

Election 2009: Trick or Treat??

I did some errends yesterday and saw these kids dress up so funny and its not even Holloween. The Rite Aid can be a strange place weither its West Philly or Millville.
Anyhow I got a disturbing email this morning concerning a radio program with I believe 2 candidates running in this November's election. on 92.1 WVLT. They went on and on about how Man I wish I had heard THAT!! I really wish I did!!!

On Magazzuwatch a Mr. Calhoun made this statement that implied that Ms. VanEmbden said the following:
She was proud of being on Lou’s ticket and how those who were complaining (about Lou) were like little yippy dogs and were part of a very vocal minority.
I just got clairifcation on what Ms. Van Embden was referring to when she made this statement. She was referring to opponents of the racetrack and the Millville Arts District. Those opponents would be TrackRacket and Millville First, not those who disagree with Lou Magazzu. She being the only Millville Resident on the ticket was proud to live in Millville. I want to apoligize to Ms. VanEbden.Man the state of Cumberland County politics today.....

Riding the White Horse

I joined some of my co-workers to congratuate Gloria on her retirement after 35 years of state service. After work on Friday, we went to the White Horse bar and resturant to hang out and start the weekend. Its rare I get to have after work fun.

Artists Nite Oct 22

I showed up..left and came back again. It was the monthly Artists Nite in Millville. We watched the Angles hang on for dear lift and beat the Yankees 7-6. At the end of the evening we shared laughs. Man, I was cracking up for sure. It was to see and hang out with good friends

Snakeskin and Pennent

Today was quite nice and mild. Really can not ask for nice climate for late October. As usual took the bus at 5:47 am (see video below). I then took the EL train and saw some sites in Philly. At work a co-worker showed off what her pet snake has shedded. It was quite a site and I was glad I could take a picture of it. On the way home I got updates on the Phillies via text as they finished off the LA Dodgers in 5 games. I do not get TBS, so I eventually went to the Oar House for the final part of the game. It looks like the Phillies will play the Yankees. We have not played them in a World Series since 1950!
