Spring Equinox 2011

Fred Kramer's Creations at Amethyst Gallery

It's time to celebrate Spring. Its been a long time coming and the mornings are still cold (I have to wear my red hat) but the grey cold presence of Winter is fading away. One St. Patrick's day, one of my co-workers retired. I have worked with her since I arrived at the Elmwood District back in 1992 way back in the Bill Clinton era. On 3rd Friday it was a nice 60-70 degrees outside and we ventured to the Amethyst Gallery which was a delight as usuall. We saw Fred and some other folks and it was a relaxing affair.

Saturday was a cool day. I first went to Ostara Yoga and had a very good class. We then went to the Church of Vintage and hung out. I got the Wi-Fi for my iPhone and Carolyne and Kay looked at vintage dresses. Carolyne Kay and I went to the Toadfish for lunch and/or early dinner. We went to a fellow's house to talk and chill untill we got ready for the "Super Moon" that was to appear for the first time since March of 1983. I was sophomore at IUP back then. I know when I go back, the campus will have NONE of the dorms that were there.  Anyhow it was a fun day and evening and the gloious sunset as well.
Yesterday, we just did some errends and mellowed out a bit.  I have my first demo in Mays Landing tomorrow. I paid a visit to the Pet Smart there. Its  near the Hamilton Mall. Well, more about that later.
It's now time to take my stuff and go to work.

I still can not believe that Blogger does not have its own app for the iPhone. I looked but could not find it. It would be good it if did, then it would be alot easier to blog on the fly and not have to get up early to fit it in.
Temple and Villonova are out of the NCAA Tourniment so I really am not following it now. The US and allies finally bombed Kaddifi. I mean he will massicure his people if he takes over the entire county. He came out and said it as much.

This Weekend: Ostara Yoga, Brenners Brew and Levoy Gala

One of my lunchtime errands
Friday at home
At the Oar House 2-11
At Brenner's Brew Sat Feb 12
Last Friday was a nicest day since last Fall. It was bout 50 out and sunny. It was a good day to do errands that needed to be done. I got scripts for my friend, did the cat sitting and bought lunch for the next week. It was "clean up day" at the Elmwood District and I made some progress. My co-worker will be surprised when she returns from California. It was a good day for cruising to tunes as well. That  night was interesting. I met some friends at Bojo's, then went to the Oar House, ran into a lawyer I see at meetings alot. He told me about his medical condition and how he deals with it. After he left, had 2 beers and went home. I forgot to eat before and I was pretty tired.
Dogs enjoy Ostara Yoga
Levoy Gala Sat Feb 12

Our new friends at the Gala
Saturday, went to Ostara Yoga. We brought our dogs and so did Carolyne's sister. They were well-behaved and enjoyed the Yoga just like we did. After class we all  went to Brenner's Brew for lunch. Carolyne and her sisters were there and it was a nice time to hang out. This will be one of the last times there since Barbara Brenner is closing up due to lack of business. She will have one last get together next weekend, an era has passed for sure.
Sam Fiocchi and Lauren Van Embden
Last night, I went to the Levoy Theatre Gala. It was held at the NJ Motorsports Park. It was well-attended so  much so that the 50-50 cash amount was $850.00 for the winner. I was seated with Ned and Linda and 2 women who were fun and interesting. The salmon was very good but Linda's veggie plate of eggplant parm was even better. I ate half of it and enjoyed it very much. I did some dancing and of course liked that. Made me want to go eat breakfast at Bob Evens I saw folks I have not socialized with in years and it was interesting. I think the VanEmbden's did a nice job of organizing this event. Below are videos of my driving and the other is a very short snippet of the Levoy Gala.
Today I plan on attending an event for the Riverfront Condos. I had mentioned the progress on this blog and then the next day the News of Cumberland County did a nice positive piece. Henceforth, I was sent an invite. It should be informative and I will have a fun time. Its now Sunday, I hear the Beatles playing on a smartphone. They always sound good!

Ostara Yoga and Carolyne's Paintings at the Energy Center Plus

Carolyne's Paintings at the Energy Center 1-22-2011
Brenner's Brew on Commerce St.
Well, yesterday, Saturday was a VERY cold day here in Cumberland County. I started the day by walking our dogs June and Jesus with their matching coats. Have to admit they look cute in the coats. Next went to Carolyne's Ostara Yoga Class at the Energy Center Plus store on Commerce Street in Bridgeton.  Carolyne's sisters joined us in the class. We did some high energy stretches that kept us warm since the building was pretty cool. After class, we put up some of Carolyne's paintings on the wall. As you can see, they look very good in this large yoga studio. She is quite a talented artist and it shows in this wall paintings. Hope folks will come to see these and attend one of her classes. Here is the class schedule from the Ostara Yoga Facebook Page.
Ostara Yoga classes at Energy Center Plus will start up again after the holidays on January 6, Thursday. Monday classes have moved to Thursday: 4-5pm all ages Kids and Caregivers Yogs; 5:30-7pm all levels yoga. Saturday classes remain at 11 - 12:30pm all levels, all ages. PWYC $5-+

The cold is supposed to stick around till Weds and then we could get a huge blizzard as the Atlantic City Press suggests in the worst case, or just a so-called "wintry mix." which would be nothing but wet sloppy stuff all over. Of course the state will be open and I will have to feed this cat during this week. I looked at the weather forecast for Philly and here it is:
June (foreground) and Jesus in the cold 1-22
Cloudy. A chance of snow in the morning...then a chance of rain in the afternoon. Not as cold with highs in the upper 30s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation 30 percent.   Tuesday Night Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow. A chance of rain. Lows in the lower 30s. Chance of precipitation 50 percent. snow Wednesday Cloudy. Rain and snow likely...mainly in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 30s. Chance of precipitation 60 percent.   Wednesday Night Mostly cloudy. Snow and rain likely in the evening...then a chance of snow showers after midnight. Lows in the mid 20s. Chance of precipitation 60 percent

Saturday at Ostara Yoga

Its a Saturday and started the morning with a good cup of joe and then off to Ostara Yoga. I got some good stretches going on. Its a nice small class and they are cool people. I enjoy the peace and quiet and mental health benefits that I derive from going every Saturday morning at the Energy Center at 10:30am We then were invited to see a video in production. This was a song created from a poem by a local pastor. Man, he has quite a voice and his friends were very nice. It was nice to meet new people. Its a new opportunity. I just found a neat website that you can send private videos. Those in the know will receive the link. Its infomational and FUN!!

This Past Week

Well, I just had to mellow out after last week with its death panels for Grandma and paper shortages/system problems at work. I was one frustrated amigo for sure. 3rd Friday went pretty well. Bob White and others (including a former RRCA Board member) paid a visit. We had to take our sign that was on the corner of High and Pine Streets. (So did the Psychic as well). I will have to ask about the ordnance and when the sign can come up etc this week. Going to the dermatologist tomorrow at Penn in Philly. They are going to check on a small growth on my temple. Its barely noticeable but the doctor thought it should be checked out.I paid a visit to see 3 old friends in Baltimore for dinner. Steve cooked up some tasty chicken and homemade sherbet (not sure that is the correct word). This past Sunday we went to a park in Vineland (near the intersection of Lincoln and Chestnut Sts) and celebrated our neighbor's child's birthday. The beans and chicken were very tasty as well. Went to Carolyne's Yoga class with our dog June. Its very good for my tight muscles.
I am getting pretty good business in my dog walking and being my friend's agent. Its good to have extra spending money these days. Man, It was so HUMID, it was gross.
In the outside world, the Phillies are doing well They are up 7 games at this time. The Eagles signed Michael Vick and the uproar began. I mean he has a drink and THAT makes the (Phila Daily)News??
The state budget impasse continues on but at least I am gettting paid. Its still hot outside and I am very tired.

Feb 28th

Today I went to Carolyne's Ostara Yoga Class held at the Energy Plus store on Commerce Street in Bridgeton NJ. It was a good class and loosened me up. After class we had a coffee at Brenner's Brew. After we got home, I walked the dogs and talked to a couple of fellows about the state of the arts district and the pending MDC vote to take place on March 12 at 8am. With the dogs walked, we set upon painting the living room of our house. We got all the sanding and spackling done along with the 1st coat. Our neighbor Elizabeth came over and was a big help in getting the work done today. It was more fun with 3 people helping out then just 2.
Its raining out now but tomorrow night into Monday its going to snow and we may get
a REAL amount this time. I will be working the Philly Flower Show this week starting Monday and will work to Friday night unless the recession and/or weather shortens my time at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
Well, got to get to bed cause there is a lot of work to be done to get the Fithian House Gallery open by March 20th. I surly hope that folks come to our house and not our neighbors house.
